- 5/5
The property was extremely clean; the room very clean and comfortable. Parking under the hotel was easy and the location close to freeways was excellent. The staff member at the front desk was very pleasant and gave us our room keys (literally keys) but gave us little to no information about hotel amenities.if there were any. We were visiting some family in Los Gatos and would definitely stay at the Carlyle when visiting again.

I am always treated very well by the manager and staff at Carlyle! It’s definitely my go-to for my business travel. Thank you!

Convenient location for Los Gatos (10 minutes drive) and a lot better value than hotels in Los Gatos. Large, clean room and comfortable bed. Good parking under the hotel. The air conditioner was very noisy - earplugs were needed to keep it on at night.....fortunately, I had some.

The hotel was very clean, but it smells of Raid roach spray and very strong.

This is always my first choice when visiting the area. Very accommodating when I have arrived early before check in. My only complaint would be the water pressure in the shower.

The room was big. The bed was comfortable. There was a Keurig coffee machine in the lobby. The price was very good

We absolutely love this hotel. We've stayed here twice and have had a pleasant experience both times. The hotel is clean and conveniently located next to stores, Starbucks, food spots. Parking is self parking, with security cameras. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. You can tell they appreciate their guests.

Reservation process, confirmations, check-in all went smoothly. Jay most helpful, pleasant & professional during our stay & room very quiet. Parking just fine, room temp adjustment quite easy. AM Coffee bar most adequate. A Starbucks exists just 1/2 block away if greater sustenance required.

I just needed a place to stay for on̈e night as part of a longer trip. This was conveniently located for me. The room and bath were spacious and clean, and the af recognized me rm previous stays.

Conveniently located close to the Los Gatos area without having to pay top dollar Los Gatos hotel prices. We felt like we were staying in a classy hotel with everything we needed, including a much appreciated jet tub. The only complaint we had was regarding the pillows. Although numerous, they were all soft. A mix of firm and soft pillows would be heaven.

Hey, the only thing negative I would have to say is like the underground parking seems to be a lot of overnight stairs there. I’m not sure if they were homeless but they were polite anyways but they kind of have that clearing feeling. I don’t know if you understand that but other than that like hate the place is cool. It’s clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. I lost my keys. One time they accommodated me but nothing to complain about about the staff conveniently located right there at the freeway man, you can’t can’t lose and it’s not loud. It’s quieter so it was a win. I would go there again.

Everything was good acoustics a lil off but pretty good

The hotel is a nice place to stay. The staff are friendly always available. The rooms are clean and have an old world charm that you don’t see anymore. The hotel is very well taken care of and it is one of my favorite places to stay now.

Older, but clean, quiet, I would, will, come back when I need to be in the area. On my list of Good stays.

I liked the homey feel. The art, wallpapers, and stuff. I liked my view looking out at the mountains :) the bathroom is super nice as well
- 5/5
Nice, clean, classical hotel that has been nicely renovated but has kept that old-style character.
- 3/5
Room had a weird smell. We opened the sliding door to air out the room, but we had to close the door because someone was smoking weed. I had to cover the chair because it looked very dirty. Staff was just ok. No smile. He wasn’t rude or anything. Bathroom was big and clean. Bed sheets felt and smell clean. Bring your own pillows.. the pillows flatten out in no time! Parking was under the hotel but no gate to keep out the non guest of the hotel. I didn’t feel safe in the garage. Lots of people walking by the hotel.. no gate for the garage. Anybody can walk in to the garage. I read the reviews and that why we chose thus hotel.. reminds me of motel 6. I no longer stay at motel 6 hotel.

Cons: To start off, I called in advance to make sure our two rooms would be near eachother as I help my parents. When we got there, the rooms were on separate floors & opposite sides of the hotel. Guy at the front desk did quickly fix it after walking in both of the rooms so not sure why. Few things we noticed off the bat, the outlets were painted over. The rooms had an old/odd smell to it. Tried to keep the sliding door open to get fresh air in, but neighbors behind hotel were smoking weed so that didnt help. There were screw holes in wall. Bathtub had patches all over it to cover up holes, Im guessing. The wall paper peeling off in several locations. The fan in bathroom is so loud that my mother who is hard of hearing said it was loud for her. Pillows deflated instantly when you lay on them & one had what looked like a bed bug cover. Carpets, which I think are original to the building, were coming up around the edges & looked like they've never been more than vacuumed. I wouldnt want my child playing/crawling on it. Our room had a jetted jub which some were broken so not sure if that even worked. Id recommend bringing your own toiletries with you as the shampoo/conditioner/body wash are very harsh & drying. Lastly, there was a tipping sign to electronically leave the cleaner a tip. Which we found to be very tacky. Pictures make the rooms look better than they are. Its an old hotel & you can tell.

For a quick trip. The hotel was very clean. Secured garage. No pool or jacuzzi. Close to a few places to eat. Quiet. Great price. 👍
- 4/5
A negative (not their fault) is the traffic light just outside the hotel. Many drivers accelerate quickly when the light turns green making a loud roar.
- 5/5
Everything was great. I like the location and the antique interior. The hotel room was extremely quiet despite being near main streets and freeways.

Very convenient- welcoming staff - good price!

The hotel was charming and very welcoming. The staff were so friendly and everyone greeted you with smiles and offers of assistance. I really appreciated the underground parking which was included in the room rate and the spaces were nice and large. The room was clean and they provide a Keurig coffee maker and pods. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

beds were comfortable The EXTREMELY STRONG smell in the room made all of my belongings smell (they still smell days later) and it made my throat hurt for days. I had to throw away all of my cpap masks and hoses because I cannot get the odor out of them, and the machine still smells days later. It's just horrible!

Room was at 75 degrees when entering at 9pm. An alarm clock was not provided. The only ice machine wa located at the far end of the building and was on the first floor only. The room did not have an adequate supply of electrical outlets and all were located in very inconvenient places.

The water was gone for a half of day. We arrived around 1:00 to the hotel and we have to wait for 40 minutes, nobody was there. I asked for a late check out and the receptionist said is ok, later he became so rude because a arrived 2 hours previous the check out and he said that because I didn’t pay the late check out early, I have to pay an extra fee + the rate. I don’t recommend this hotel to anybody. The man in charge of the hotel is so rude. No water in the hotel for several hours

This is an Old World style of hotel. Plush. Deep colors. Marble (probably synthetic). Large rooms with actual closets, wooden doors, elegant bathrooms, an inviting lobby with classy carpets, as are the carpets in the room. Drapes are total blackout drapes. LIghts come on automatically when you enter the hall or bathroom. While this isn't an actual old building, it fakes it well down to the embossed wallpaper. No wall hangings. Nice. Comfortable bed with substantial sheets. Very clean. Furnishings of wood. I prefer some wear to sanitized furniture and these were a bit worn. Quiet, in spite of the highway being right there. I'd stay here again.

There are several fast food options within walking distance and a small mini mall less than a 15 minute walk away with some awesome breakfast places, drug store, and Supermarket. Package store was a 10 minute walk. There’s an awesome mall area 2.2 miles away with high end shopping and awesome restaurants. The Uber ride was approximately $8.00. If staying in the Santa Clara / San Jose area again I would definitely stay here.

And very pleased to learn that the hotel has a lobby area with a few table and chairs that we can sit together and chat and enjoy our foods in a clean and quiet environment. Jay at the front desk has been so helpful and friendly. The entire stay is very pleasant and enjoyable for us.

Very nice and helpful staff. Despite mixed information on Google, this hotel DOES NOT serve breakfast. If you stay, you will want to ask for a room not facing the street if possible due to traffic noise. Parking is an additional $10 a day to park in their garage. The hotel is very clean. The rooms are dated back to the opening of the hotel's era but very clean. The bathroom is modern at least in our room. The plus is they have both a microwave and refrigerator in their rooms. You will want to check out the Kuerig coffee maker before using. Ours we did not use as had previous water in it. One of the least expensive hotels in the area. They have a Jack in the Box directly across the street and next to the hotel, in short walking distance a Weinerschnitzel and Foster Freeze. Wheelchair access available by using elevator in the garage. Not sure if access through the front door.

Quite honestly the hotel was trash. As soon as we walked in and the floor was not even and flat we should have walked out. The floor was gross and dirty the was a chair to sit in and it looked like it was about 100 years old. Tore/dirty and lopsided. Bath tub was gross and dirty. Towels where iffy if they were cleaned or not. If I could have found another hotel that late I would have left and wouldn’t care to lose the money. Idk where the 4 star review came from. I assume the roaches left the review. At 9:30 housekeeping was knocking on our door when I walked up she was already trying to open the door. I said uhm can k help you she said oh sorry I will come back! Wow! Oh and if you think the chain lock is going to keep anyone out lmao think again. I forgot to unhinge when we were leaving and my husband pull it out of the door frame. So much for safety. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra 100 and stay some decent.

Parking area safe, but almost full. Found last parking space!
- 4/5
Like stepping back in time. Easy parking.
- 5/5
Great staff, clean room and surprisingly quiet for being at a very busy intersection.
- 5/5
All of the small touches most hotels fail to provide nowadays are there.
- 1/5
Also, the hot water was very sporadic. When I took shower, the water was lukewarm even when I turned it to the hottest. This hotel doesn't have the basics right. I think it's in business only because of their location, not because of their service or facilities. I know it was a cheap hotel to begin with, but they can do so much better than this. I will NEVER come back to this hotel.
- 5/5
The hotel was very convenient with the location and all the accommodations with the room.
- 4/5
Busy area
- 4/5
Area around hotel is borderline with lots of fast food but no good restaurants in easy walking distance.
- 5/5
Amazing!
- 5/5
I was a bit unsure when I arrived in area of the hotel. Lots of run down buildings and old store fronts. I guess u could call it a "sketchy" area at first impressions. However, it turned out to a "Diamond in the Rough". Spacious lobby, very spacious room and hallways. Very accomodating staff and probably the quietest room I have ever occupied and I have stayed in some very nice places. I definitely will book the Carlyle again if the need arises again.
- 3/5
Friendly staff, but shower water never stayed warm. One day my was room was not attended to while I was out. Parking tight. Lights went out in bathroom each day while I was in the shower and did not respond to motion sensor.

Good for the price

I’m happy to say that this is our favorite hotel in the West San Jose/Campbell area. It is clean, bright and beautiful inside. The beds are extremely comfortable. The bathrooms are spotlessly clean and the staff is excellent. When we arrived the gentleman working behind the desk went out of his way to make sure that a room was exactly what we wanted. It’s the only place I stay when I’m in town. Bravo Carlyle!
- 4/5
Very quiet, parking was a little tight over the weekend, clean.
- 4/5
This hotel was a good value for the price. Rooms were spacious, dark, quiet, air conditioning worked well with small fridge, microwave, and Keurig. parking garage was under the building and a bit tricky to access due to the configuration of the streets.
- 5/5
staff was very helpful especially when i booked for the wrong night.
- 5/5
My first choice when coming into town. Front desk is always accommodating upon arrival. I normally arrive before check-in and I have always been able to check in early with no extra fee's. Staff is courteous and helpful.

But I give the 5 stars service off front desk all very nice and helpful and room service workers keeps the room very clean. From Room 219 Jennifer
- 2/5
No Hot water let it run and checked 3x over an hour period and tried to get help from front desk no one was there! And we were told they no longer do continental breakfast
- 3/5
the property is being remodeled, missed cleaning my room 2x out of 4
- 5/5
I booked the Carlyle based on at the pictures and reviews. While they were all fairly positive, I was skeptical. The price was much less than other hotels in the area. We were pleasantly surprised. The location lacks charm. But being only a block from the highway was perfect for getting where we needed to easily. The room was quiet, very clean, and the beds comfortable. The kerig coffee maker with pods in the room was an added bonus. The hotel management was also very quick to respond to a text I had with questions. An excellent choice for the price.
- 4/5
close freeway access; grocery store and gas stations close;
- 1/5
They didn’t have enough parking and had no other options. The night manager told me to either illegally park in the handicap space or double park against a wall. I had no choice but to double park and leave my phone number in the window. I was then woken up at 6am to go move my car. Totally unacceptable I would never consider staying there.
- 5/5
Not 5 star, but great place to stay for a reasonable price.
- 4/5
Property was nice. Parking underground appreciated. Just a little tricky with traffic to get in and out.
- 5/5
Clean room, amazing service. Water was cold after 10am for the showers, just had to wake a bit early for a warm shower.
- 2/5
Everything was just average but it looks like they are starting to remodel the interior.

Worth the rate.
- 5/5
Great place to stay. I travel alot and I keep coming back. Best beds, best customer service and best price.
- 5/5
I have a great experience at the hotel and very conveniently situated to see my family almost everyday during my stay.
- 5/5
The Carlyle doesn’t look like much from the outside but once you’re inside it is delightful. The Victorian decor is whimsical and charming. The room was clean and everything you need from a hotel!
- 5/5
Room wasn’t completely cleaned from last guest, but I threw out the toothpick on the nightstand & scraped off the 2 flecks of green tooth gel on the bathroom countertop it was otherwise fine.
- 5/5
We always stay here when visiting our daughter.
- 1/5
Cleaning staff were very helpful even if they didn’t speak English. Internet Access: hardly any. Not even “spotty”; NONE for the whole evening. Terrible. Ample parking downstairs. Tricky to maneuver. Air conditioner: weird and noisy. There is refrigerator and keurig and pods in the room- Good.

Access to the property is difficult.

My Mom loved her stay at the Carlyle Hotel. The decor is beautiful, and the staff were very accommodating. I would certainly recommend this hotel to family and friends!
- 5/5
Very comfortable beds with nice sheets, excellent up-to-date TV, jacuzzi tub, fridge, microwave, and of course WiFi. Oddly, there is no alarm clock. I stay there frequently and my only complaint is that the carpets needs to be replaced.

Given the location by the freeway and the low price, I wasn’t expecting much, but the lobby was clean and interestingly decorated, as was the room. The gentleman behind the desk was friendly and accommodating, and the parking garage right under the lobby was very convenient. I was only looking for a bed for the night, not a resort, and the Carlysle was exactly what I needed.
- 3/5
Quiet & clean is good !
- 5/5
Great place
- 3/5
Room was clean. Shower only cold water and drinking water only warm. Never got a hi or goodbye or thanks from anybody. Printer did not work for boarding passes. You think they would have let us use theirs in the office behind glass?
- 4/5
a little run down but comfortable enough for the price.
- 3/5
Good stay for the price
- 4/5
I was worried about parking underground, reputation of cities around San Jose has not been good, but it was undisturbed. Disappointed about no breakfast, not much choice on restaurants. We decided have food delivered to room for safety consideration. Didn't have coffee maker in room either. Fancy Indian decoration but minimum service. Just one night stay, so we tolerated.
- 5/5
Access to freeway, covered parking, walkable dining and Starbucks next door.
- 3/5
I don’t know why they charged me $100 on my credit card after i checked out.
- 4/5
It’s a good place to stay if you want to feel like in a different time zone but with modern amenities
- 4/5
Decent place for a night or 2. Good price.
- 1/5
No other rooms available. Left for a different hotel!
- 4/5
Everything was great but my room smelled like many people had smoked in it. Other than that, everything else was great.
- 4/5
Very quaint place with super helpful staff and nice room. My second stay and will continue to book here as needed
- 5/5
It’s a very lovely place and has that romantic Victorian era feel to it. Our night clerk was extremely polite and professional. We will definitely come back and stay there whenever we need to stay in the Campbell or San Jose area. Very, very nice hotel.!

Thai food place 3 doors down, good chicken tika and bread.
- 5/5
Although the property is a bit dated, the rooms are quiet, there is plenty of hot water, and the beds are comfortable. Quite frankly, it has everything one needs for an overnight stay. The parking is free and ample, which is a huge plus. The only drawback is that the only restaurants nearby are fast food chains. Other than that, the hotel is decent and reasonably priced. It should be noted that it's also very easy to get to.
- 4/5
Super clean and super quite I envy my stayed
- 4/5
Pleasantly surprised about the hotel. The bed was comfortable. Everything was clean.
- 3/5
I thought there was breakfast and maybe cable TV. There was neither.
- 1/5
I booked the room because of the Jacuzzi tub when I arrived I found the tub was not working so I asked for another room. I was not given another room or offered a refund or offered a reduction and pay very poor service very unprofessional.
- 3/5
Solid 3 star experience. Room was a little dirty but the bed was nice and clean. Lack of hot water made showering unpleasant. Cheap stay so I guess you get what you pay for.
- 5/5
It was okay
- 4/5
It's a very quiet and comfortable hotel. The rooms are very clean and the bed quite comfortable with nice sheets and plenty of pillows. The TV is modern and offers a decent variety of viewing options.
- 4/5
Cool and interesting small hotel. Large rooms. Wide terraces. Looks like it aimed to be someone's idea of luxury once upon a time. Lots of gold fixtures, faux marble Greco-Roman statues standing around. Jet tub. Land line wall phone in the bathroom. Cuz business can't wait!

Excellent hotel, well located, clean and well maintained. Very quite and staff is very helpful and friendly. Very good price. Will come back again.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, clean room. Great for a cheap stay.

The light in the room kept turning on during the night. I had to get up 3 times to close it, until I surrendered and slept with a pillow on my face. The staff and the hotel doesn’t care.
- 5/5
Beautiful lobby. A little worn, but very clean and nice,
- 3/5
I stayed for 3 days, one of the issues I had was that the hot water was not available for a shower which was very inconvenient for me. I notified the staff, I am not sure if they fixed but the same thing happened the next day as well. Not the best in cleanliness but was ok.
- 5/5
I was pleasantly surprised. The cost was perfect for what you get. It’s basic but the most comfortable bed and pillow I’ve ever slept on. I work nearby late sometimes and will be back again soon!
- 4/5
Place is pretty good really.. what's funny is you can tell that is used to be very exceptional. Camden Ave is very busy, lots of traffic noise.
- 4/5
The hotel looks nice with wide hallways, but the room was dated and needed a upgrade. There was no breakfast service available. Only coffee.
- 3/5
The stay was nice. We slept well. Everything looked very clean. My only complaint is they did not hold the deposit they actually charged my card and the website said the deposit was $50, and they charged me $100. Now I have to wait for the $100 to be returned to me rather than just a hold released.
- 5/5
Was mildly bummed that there wasn’t. Only coffee. Aside the above mentioned ‘no breakfast as initially advertised’, it was a very comfortable and pleasant stay. Quiet area of the city, especially being so close to the freeway and big main roadways. Staff (man, at the reception), was very welcoming and hospitable. Great indoor/underground parking available and primo inside decor, only added to the vip feel. Thank you

The property was clean and well-maintained. The staff was friendly during check-in. Allowed a 12pm checkout instead of the normal 11am. Check-in staff forgot to tell check-out staff. Check-out staff calling our room phone every 15 minutes after 11am, even though we communicated twice we were given a 12pm check-out time. Called four times, last 2 times, I did not bother to answer phone. Left at noon, as agreed. I was charged $100 for property damage. When I ask for details, all five emails go unanswered after a response to my first request for a receipt (which they did not send). The stay was fine, just horrible customer service and shady business practices. I am still waiting to dispute the $100 property damage charge! Very poor customer relations.

nothing special but clean and quiet in san jose
- 1/5
The lobby was really cute, nice and clean. Got to the room and there were stains on the chairs, the wallpaper was peeling off of the wall, you can see holes in the wall where the TV or something used to be mounted. The air conditioner was making a gnarly noise. Just looking at the bed as soon as you walked in you can see two giant dents in it where it was worn out. Bathroom had cracked tiles and stains on the floor and in the tub. I literally just walked out of the hotel and went somewhere else.

The room was very clean. Bed was comfortable and desk staff was very friendly. Can't beat it for the price. I would stay there again.

Not great with detailed cleaning. Found a syringe in the closet, then lighter and partially smoked cigarette hidden on top of the microwave on the coffee/tea stand. I brought both of this issues to the front desk. The person to took my syringe just put it in the trash. I suggested put it in an empty water bottle, or if there are a lot of meth guests, consider getting a sharps container.

If I had to rate this hotel based off of the building and things in the room then I would give 5 stars. To start, we pulled into the nice garage under the building where we found plenty of spaces to park. Then we went up to the lobby and I loved the red victorian style decor and cute breakfast tables. The room was huge! Plenty of space and chairs for sitting. The bathroom was good sized with a shower/jacuzzi tub combo , closet, refrigerator, pod coffee maker and microwave. Now, I skipped the check in part because that is what brought it down to 4 stars. I seriously doubt the guy who ran the hotel and checked us in has ever taken a class on hospitality because he had none. He would not speak to me in full sentences and when I did not understand he would just repeat the same word louder and with a rude scowl. He said, "deposit" I said what? and instead of explaining that he needed a card for a deposit, letting me know how much it would be and when it would be returned to my account, He just said the one word over like I was a stupid child. After getting in to the room I sat down on the comfy chair only to find a dog chew. When I later told him about that he said NO, there are no dogs here only service. No apology for the cleaning staff missing that. Next day I went down and asked for an extra towel and I was told by a kid at the desk that he would send one up. Five hours later we got back to our room around 10pm and not only was there no towel but our room was not cleaned.

Very unique location!
