Guests consistently praise the cleanliness, comfort, and modernity of the hotel, as well as the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The location is also frequently mentioned as a pro, with easy access to public transportation and local amenities. However, several guests have complained about street noise, particularly in rooms facing busy roads.

This is a fairly new, smallish hotel. The room and beds were comfortable. Cleaning staff, if I remember correctly, cleaned the room every other day, which was fine for us. The room with 2 queen beds is long and narrow, with a useful seating area at one end but not much storage, and a bit of a tight squeeze between the bed and the desk. Bathroom is nice and clean. Our room faced the back of the hotel (away from University Ave.), which made it quiet; other side might be less so. There is no restaurant in the hotel but several nearby, including an excellent Indian restaurant one block down. The optional breakfast-burrito delivery was inexpensive but so-so. If you have time, you'd be better off having breakfast at the bagel place down the block. Front desk staff was professional and helpful, and retrieved our car from the adjoining garage within a few minutes each time was asked. (Parking costs extra.) The UC campus and downtown Berkeley are about a 20 minute walk from the hotel. University Ave. itself is heavily traveled and not all that pleasant, but there are nice quiet neighborhoods to either side of it. Berkeley is an expensive hotel market, but the Aiden is surely one of the best options -- not luxurious, but solid.

Room was very clean and modern. There is parking by valet only. We stayed just one night and felt well cared for and welcomed.

The hotel was super nice and new, great location in the Bay (close to the BART and restaurants). The rooftop was so lovely too! I loved that my window opened and how clean the room was. All in all, great hotel!

This is my second time staying here. It’s close to the BART station and Trader’s Joes. The rooftop has a nice view.

Completely remodeled, attractive decor, very clean, staff went above and beyond- we told the day desk staff member we needed to leave the next morning early and get our car out of valet at 5:30 am. When I called to request the vehicle from the overnight desk person, she told me the car was already out front and waiting for us. Made a huge difference!

Good, reasonably priced option next to UC Berkeley. Residence Inn has become unaffordable, so this is a good alternative. Nothing fancy, but clean, well-staffed, and walking distance from campus and your ungrateful offspring.

Location, rooms, rooftop lounge Parking situation. Our car was too large for valet. We did find street parking nearby, but its nice to have parking service associated with the hotel.

Great room and view. Bed sheets and blankets were comfy, and best pillows ever. Lots of free coffee and water. Staff was super friendly. Parking was tricky because they don't allow trucks to park in their garage, so it was off-street parking or metered parking. Great air conditioning, TV, and bathroom. Lovely roof-top hangout area. Will definitely stay here again.

It was super clean, the staff were helpful and professional. They went out of their way to make sure our stay a pleasant experience. Beds were comfortable, the windows being able to open were great to get fresh air, and the roof terrace was so nice to have tea at the end of the night. Coffee+tea all day long in the lobby was also a bonus. The parking was expensive and the breakfast options were limited/overpriced. But that was not a deal breaker, we found parking in bearby neighborhoods and great breakfast spots nearby.

I didnt have any high expectations prior to checking in-- however from the moment we interfaced with the people at front desk- to checking out, every expectation was exceeded. Very friendly, helpful, clean, efficient-- it was all an unexpected treat.

Staff are wonderful. Water pressure is so bad it took 4-5 minutes for my water to get warm. ADA hand held shower has no post to position in a way that people can wash hair with both hands. No daily cleaning of the room. Garbage gets piled up.

The decor was nice, and I appreciated that they provide real mugs rather than paper ones. However, I would not return to this hotel, as the sound insulation between floors is essentially non-existent. After a long trip, I was hoping to get some sleep, but I was woken up around 6 a.m. by guests upstairs. They weren’t doing anything unusually noisy; normal footsteps came through as loud thumps due to the building’s construction.

Clean, comfortable & close to family we were visiting. No self-parking. Valet fee was too expensive. We had to arrange drop off/pick up. Had trouble getting the heater in room to work - finally kicked in at 3:00 am.

Over all a nice stay. Clean rooms, very polite and generous staff. Great location next to the north Berkeley station. The roof top hang out spot with seating and fire pits was a good time. Only downside to the single king room is that it was the smallest and most cramped room I think I've ever stayed in. Barely enough room for our stuff. Besides that it was a pleasant experience.

Rooms were ok, terrible pillows. A soul-less attempt at a boutique hotel, without the comfort or quality, but at a boutique price. Didn’t know my rented minivan would fit in their parking lot until I checked in. The feeble attempt at a gym on the roof was laughable.

The place was very clean and enjoyable. They do charge $29/day for valet parking which is the only off street parking they offer. It wasn’t clear when signing up. Also the street noise was loud but we were able to sleep with earplugs and it lessened in the early morning hours. I think they should had installed double pane windows. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms had hug quality furnishings and bathroom features (example- lovely shower tile and heavy glass doors). Felt well made and elegant. The bedding was very smooth. Chair and ottoman were great. The room layout is a bit awkward. Give it an A- for the price. Street noise only brings it down from A

The location worked well for what I needed. Room was nice and clean (I also thought the QR code to leave a tip for the cleaning person was clever and helpful tbh) and it was great it had a microwave and fridge! Easy to connect to Netflix. Comfy bed. Blackout curtains could be a bit better. There was rarely someone at the front desk and when there was someone there they didn’t seem to know quite what was going on and it was just a lone person.

The room was spacious and well appointed -- windows that opened for fresh air plus a good air conditioning unit. The bed was large and very comfortable with plenty of pillows. There was plenty of storage for our clothes plus the bathroom was well stocked with shower gel, hand creams, and towels. The only negative and it is only slightly negative was the shower wasn't very powerful but perhaps I wasn't using it properly. The decor was very, very au courant and appealing, too. Camilo, who received us at the front desk was very helpful and polite. We were happy to have found this lovely place to stay while in Berkeley.

Very nice hotel for the price! The room had everything we needed. We were in a corner room overlooking the intersection so it was a little loud but they thoughtfully provided a white noise gadget that really helped! I like the double blinds that keep the light out too. Very friendly staff and we easily found parking nearby on the street. Their recommendations for food nearby are good but there’s also Creekwood for weekend brunch or dinner. Excellent! Just down Sacramento…

We were very impressed with the service, comfort, decor, amenities and value of the Aiden hotel! The staff was friendly, helpful, kind and responsive to our questions and needs (e.g. what bus to take where, requests for more towels). Having coffee/ hot drinks and cold water available at all times was a real plus, not to mention bikes and bike helmets! Would stay again and feel lucky to have found it. The perfect small hotel with a great staff! Thank you, especially to the night manager who was gracious and very accommodating.

I was really surprise at how much I liked staying here. The staff was very kind, it was very clean, comfortable, safe and conveniently located. I loved that car was parked in a locked garage adjacent to the building and not in a open lot somewhere else. It’s not the most exciting location but if that doesn’t matter to you, the good thing is that it’s very convenient. There’s gas stations, restaurants, Target, 4th street and access to the freeway all within reach. My only concern was the layout of the shower in the bathroom (in my room, not sure if other rooms had this issue). If you wanted to get your shower going (to warm) before stepping in, it appears you couldn’t. The sink appeared to block access to the knobs. You have to get in and then turn knobs and get shot with cold water first. The next time I showed I figured out I was still able to slide the glass door open to at least turn the knobs, slide it closed and then get in the other way. So it ended up working out, lol. It was just awkward. However, I’d definitely would stay here again. :)

I stayed here for two nights for parents weekend at Berkeley. It’s very clean and a nice hotel. The only problem and biggest problem is that my room ( actually all the queen rooms) was facing the main street so there was a lot of car noise specially at night when you want to sleep. Other than this it was a good hotel to stay in.

The area wasn't that safe at night but overall very close to BART and other transportation.

The property was clean and quiet and perfectly fine for a short stay. There were not a lot of great dining options in the neighborhood. The staff were friendly.

We stayed one night. The hotel was clean, comfortable and uncluttered. Ordered breakfast (fee) and it was delivered to our room at the time we chose. The staff were friendly and check in was quick and easy.

No parking, unsafe, very small room, this room should have been half the price we paid for.

Room was not cleaned while I was away for a football game. And NO I did not have the "do not disturb" sign out. I mentioned to desk person and all he said was "sorry about that". He may have been in college just working. They did have a "Hiring" sign posted so maybe they were understaffed.

The only downside was the bed and pillows, which felt too soft and cheap, though we managed to make do. Our room faced the main street, which was a bit noisy during the weekdays, but quieter over the weekend. Overall, it’s a solid option and a great value if you're looking for practicality and cleanliness. We did enjoy our stay there. The hotel is clean and highly practical, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. One great feature is their 24-hour drink station, which is always stocked with coffee, tea, and hot chocolate — a nice perk to enjoy at any time of day or night. The rooms are well-equipped, clean, and designed to be functional, providing all the essentials for a convenient stay. This is the best deal in town. It's a basic hotel with comfy beds, super clean and a great rooftop space with bay views. Literally the best budget hotel I've ever stayed in.

Really nice mid-range hotel with a hip, less corporate, more artsy vibe than similar hotels on University Ave. While this part of town is not Berkeley’s prettiest or most scenic, there are some fantastic food and beverage choices within a couple of blocks, and the location is central, with nothing else in town too far away. Staff go the extra mile here to make guests feel welcome and comfortable. For us, that included an unsolicited upgrade despite having booked a non-refundable rate through a third party site. Rooms were very clean, and they have a parking garage next door. Mandatory valet service to use the garage is frustrating, but I couldn’t see the interior layout so it might be necessary in order to accommodate the cars. Both solo travelers and couples will feel safe and comfortable here. Rooms are really nicely laid out with an efficient use of space, good TVs, blackout shades, and comfy beds. The bathrooms are beautiful and spacious. The roof deck is a nice extra in good weather, but we couldn’t figure out how to light the gas fireplaces up there.

Loved the shower. No one at front desk when checking in

Also, the concierge staff seems to be very junior. Not what you expect from the professional hotel staff. I wouldn’t go back to this hotel.

Clean and up to date rooms

From the front desk check in to the clean room to the roof top experience. This is a nice hotel. I would stay here again.

The staff was friendly, the rooms are clean and the neighborhood is walkable as well as a short walk to a Bart station.

perfect

Convenient to be close to UCBerkeley. Everything was good except for road noise. Many of the hotel rooms face the busy University Avenue so road noise is a problem - especially for light sleepers. Plus the windows that face the street are not very soundproof which does nothing to alleviate the problem.
- 4/5
The Aiden is just fine. It’s central to everything and close to nothing (except Target). But it met my expectations and the price was right.
- 4/5
The hotel is very convenient to BART and buses in north Berkeley. It’s not close to Downtown Berkeley. The roof has good views and is relaxing. Staff is friendly. Can have more pressure and a better message head. The toilet is too tall for a short person. But all in all pretty good hotel if you are visiting that area.
- 5/5
Roof top patio is a really pleasant surprise and wonderful on a sunny day/evening with a glass of wine! Great views. Room was very clean and functionally designed. Parking was convenient with incredibly responsive valet in and out. Highly recommend.

I've stayed at this property twice now. I love the rooftop patio with firepits and the employees are nice. This is the first time I've needed parking there and they made it pretty simple, but it is no fun paying extra to have a car. Would love it if that was just free.

The knocking sound from the next room and upper floor was quite noticeable and hard to sleep on late night
- 5/5
Clean and comfortable, staff friendly, not that much available in the area directly surrounding the hotel, but had a great stay during our quick visit to Berkeley.

It can get a bit loud (I was on the second floor). Other than that, the bed is comfy and the bedroom and bathroom nice and clean.

We had a minor issue that was dealt with quickly by the efficient manager. Just the way it should be.

Very clean property & friendly staff. Close walking distance to BART and local restaurants.
- 5/5
Very good hotel, excellent management and staff.
- 4/5
Berkeley is an expensive city so overall a good value in the $200 range. Short, safe walk to BART. Main problem: a busy intersection with considerable traffic noise. If noise sensitive like I am, bring good earplugs.
- 5/5
Modern, new, comfortable, friendly helpful staff.
- 4/5
No frills but clean and recently updated. Busy street/intersection.
- 5/5
Very welcoming and friendly staff. Rooms are clean and trendy. Comfortable beds. Coffee and tea are a nice touch
- 5/5
We had a wonderful trip. The location was perfect! I didn’t have to use my car once in my 4-day stay. Staff was knowledgeable and helpful.
- 5/5
The hotel is located in a wonderful location- with a convenience store, Target and food options either across the street or a short walk around the block. Upon check in we were immediately greeted and offered water, tea and coffee (which is provided free of charge throughout your stay. Since there is only metered street parking available, Best Western offers a secure valet service (with in & out privileges 😊) for a nominal cost. The good news is if you sign up for the Best Western rewards program you get your first night's parking half off. The rooms were extremely clean and comfortable; the bed quality was amazing and the room smelled new. Everything worked as it was supposed to and not a single thing was rundown, worn out or broken. For fun there are bicycles available to rent and a complimentary happy hour from 5pm to 6pm nightly. I would definitely stay here again and wish more hotel stays were as satisfying as this one was.

I loved my stay at the Aiden Best Western Berkeley and will definitely stay here again. The property is brand new and looks very modern, clean and shiny. The manager on duty welcomed me with a big smile and the offer of a beverage. His recommendation of the non-alcoholic beer was refreshing and delicious. The lobby was well-stocked with fresh local coffee and tea. Hotel guests may order simple breakfast items to be delivered to their rooms or dine in the nice lobby area. I had a room at the back of the hotel, away from noisy University Avenue, at my request when booking my room. It was a very comfortable, silent room. I loved it and the incredible bed. This hotel is mere blocks away from the North Berkeley BART station, so it is very convenient to get almost anywhere in the Bay Area that way. Best of all, the price was affordable.
