The Altair Hotel Bay Harbor

Pool was magnificent and enjoyable. Staff were generally very helpful.

We had a great stay at the Altair! The separate swimming hours, complete with a women's aqua-aerobics class, kosher breakfast, and details down to the negel vasser cup and wig head in the room, were pleasantly surprising and so useful! The hotel offered kayaks free of charge, and shuttles on the hour to and from the beach. They provided chairs, umbrella, and cold water, too. The staff was very accommodating and fixed any issues right away. They offer half price drinks on the rooftop pool daily, and they held our luggage for us on our first and last day between our flights and check-in/out. 13 minute walk from Mamala, and 17 minutes from Harding! The shuttle also drops off at Harding, which saved us Ubers! They also upgraded our room for no charge when we arrived. All in all, we were super satisfied and pleasantly surprised by everything the Altair offered. Thank you!

Hotel was great. Restaurant is managed by an external vendor - not as friendly as main hotel staff and breakfast only opens at 8.30 which was not helpful as a business traveller.

The room itself appeared poorly maintained. The wallpaper was peeling off the walls, and there were several maintenance issues in the bathroom. The shower temperature was difficult to control because the handle was loose and would slip downward, causing the water to become extremely hot. We had to hold the handle in place while showering. In addition, water leaked out of the shower despite using the curtain properly, leaving the carpet outside the bathroom wet. We were also concerned about safety. The nightstand next to the bed had very sharp edges. My 2-year-old fell off the bed and nearly struck her eye on the corner, which could have resulted in a serious injury. The most disappointing part of our stay occurred at checkout. I requested a receipt and noticed that I had been charged $38 per night for valet parking, even though we never used valet service. When I asked the front desk to remove the charge, I was told they would need to "check the cameras" to verify that I had not parked there. I found this response insulting, rude, and unprofessional. Guests should not be treated as though they are being dishonest when disputing an obviously incorrect charge. Overall, the hotel did not meet my standards.

breakfast was a big spread and delicious! couldn't of asked for more. so many choices Could have had another comfortable chair/couch in the room. there was just 1 and bench but we were 3 ppl.

Almost nothing There are a few kind people working here, but unfortunately 90% of the staff were extremely unprofessional and unpleasant. This reservation is for one night but I have another one so unfortunately this experience is an experience of 5 days. We experienced serious discrimination during our stay. No one seemed to care about our concerns or problems. Communication was poor, and when issues were raised, they were ignored. The most frustrating part was the room situation. We were given a room, and the next day they suddenly changed their minds and moved us without any prior notice. We had to pack everything again and relocate, which wasted a significant amount of our time and energy. This should never happen to guests. The food experience was also very disappointing. Breakfast was honestly one of the worst we have experienced. The staff who makes eggs doesn’t make for you if they don’t like you. The quality was very poor, and at times it felt like service depended on whether they “liked” you or not. Basic requests such as freshly prepared eggs were inconsistently handled. Overall, the food quality was unacceptable. To be honest, it doesn’t feel like management cares about guest feedback or reviews at all. Unless you have no other option and would rather sleep on the street, I would not recommend staying here. I cannot in good conscience suggest this place to anyone who does not want their vacation ruined.

It’s only eight minutes away. It was a great staycation for the holiday thank you so much.

The entire hotel is clearly designed exclusively for Orthodox Jewish guests, which is not disclosed anywhere during booking. As a regular traveler, this made the stay extremely uncomfortable and misleading. If you are not part of that community, you should be clearly warned in advance. I stayed only one night and left in shock because of the overall experience. The atmosphere, service level, and amenities did not match the price or the advertised standard at all. What makes this even worse: the hotel continues to charge my card, and it is completely unclear what these charges are for. I have received no proper explanation or transparency. This place is overpriced, misrepresented, and poorly managed. I strongly do not recommend staying here unless you are specifically looking for this very narrow type of accommodation

The Altair is a beautiful kosher hotel that caters to guests of all ages and religions. The hotel charges a daily resort fee of $50 and $38 for overnight valet parking, so watch out. The restaurant can get very crowded on Shabbat and Jewish holidays. And the sukkah is mostly not kosher by most standards.

It was clean and the people were respectful. I didn’t like the fact that it didn’t have no microwave in the room , I didn’t like the fact that the cafeteria close at 11 by the time it’s 10:30 they don’t want to let people in the breakfast time need to be a little later , the chargers was a little bit confusing at first they was charging my card a lot when I ask the front desk about it they say it just a hold .

it was very nice we really enjoyed every minute the cleanliness the staff were amazing and made our vacation a hit. we were disappointed about Shabbat that we weren't told by reaerations that we will have to eat in the meat bar. it was really hard for us to walk and have so many people owning the hotel and pushing us away when we paid full price.

During Shabbat day you don’t have coffe ( there is no information about that). The gym smel food all the time . The hotel is perfectly located but with a lot of information that not appear in the web site.

The valet parking guys were very responsive. Security overnight was onsite and provided the guests walking about with safety. I had no issues on check out. For 200 a night I wouldn’t complain but for what we paid, $600 a night there was nothing worth it about this stay. There are also no baths in this hotel I tried bathing my child in the shower and he slipped and cut his head twice they should at least have shower mats. The breakfast is very basic nothing special. overall terrible stay would never stay here again.

I stayed many times at branded luxury hotels before but this place tops all of them with having the best friendly, courteous and helpful staff from the front desk all the way down to the cleaning crews and waiters.

The decor was very up to date and the price was very reasonable especially with breakfast being included. The pool was very clean and well maintained. The area feels very safe and walkable to shopping and restaurants.

You cannot control the temperature of the room; you have to call the front desk. There is no parking except Vallet…they damaged my car. 1st room the shower head was spraying everywhere, 2nd room the TV didn’t work and had exposed wiring maintenance didn't seem to care someone could get shocked, the 3rd room the deadbolt didn’t work(I gave up at that point). There are gender segregated swimming times in the morning and at night taking 4 hours of swim time opportunities from non-jewish guests. Breakfast is anything but American and is nasty. No coffee, unless you like instant. The roof pool and jacuzzi is pretty awesome, I’ll give them that.

You cannot control the temperature of the room; you have to call the front desk. There is no parking except Vallet…they damaged my car. 1st room the shower head was spraying everywhere, 2nd room the TV didn’t work and had exposed wiring maintenance didn't seem to care someone could get shocked, the 3rd room the deadbolt didn’t work(I gave up at that point). The 1 and only drawback is that this hotel serves a cold breakfast only on saturday to celebrate the sabbath day. There should be options for those of other religions but it was a minor setback. Overall a fantastic hotel with great guests and a superior staff

My room and stay were very nice but should be advertised as hotel catering to the Orthodox Jewish population. Separate swim hours at the pool for men and women and other quirky features that would be off putting for the non-Jewish traveler.

Property states and highlights key feature as soundproofed rooms, but this is definitely not the case, most if not all rooms I got told have or are connected and those doors including the outward facing ones to the hallway let every single noise through, could very clearly hear every conversation, wouldn't recommend if you're a light sleeper etc

Awful stay. They don’t have blinds in any room. Rude staff. Separate time slots at the pool for men and women. Woke up and thought it was pouring down outside but it was just another guest taking a shower but it was so loud so you would wake up.

For the price I thought the hotel was good but the carpet in the room was old and the staff would never answer the phone

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay from start to finish at this hotel. It had everything we needed for a nice getaway. The pool was just perfect, the breakfast was scrumptious, and the service and comfort were second to none. The amenities like scooters, kayak, the showers, just made it extra special. Our favorite peak was the private beach with shuttle, chairs and umbrella.

The staff is so welcoming and friendly. The room was immaculate. It wasn’t the quietest room. There were children running up and down the hallway, no fault of the hotel. Will definitely stay here again.

Nice hotel. A bit of a walk to the beach and restaurants on Harding, but doable. Kosher breakfast was very good. Pool nicely heated.

Really enjoyed the experience from beginning to end. The staff is very attentive and cordial, and they have a well equipped and maintained gym. Within walking distance to the beach and fine dining.
