The bed had a weird stain on the side and the mattress protector wouldn’t stay on. Pillows were wafer thin. The breakfast in the morning was definitely disappointing. Staff was nice and friendly. Restaurant outside smelled awful not their fault though.

Room had an unpleasant musty smell. Although the room looked clean, the odor gave it a dirty feel. The hotel charged a $25 incidental fee. It should be refunded in 3 days. I expected more for the price.

clean breakfast; it was very limited. My booking indicates "Breakfast is included in the final price"; it should say continental breakfast included. The items served met the definition of that type of breakfast. Other than oatmeal there were no other hot items available. Also, the lobby provided coffee/tea but there was no coffee maker in the room. I don't like to have to get dressed in order to have my first cup of coffee in the morning.

This was a great place to stay. It was clean and in a good & convenient location. Plenty of good choices on the breakfast bar, but could have some more hot items.

expedia, Travelocity, and others. We also had issues with room 303 booked privately. Bed sheets were dirty, discovered after midnight when returning to room. They had security bring up replacement sheets and I had to change myself all bedding. We found a pill next morning in room 303 which could be a hazard to children. I was disappointed as well to discover no outdoor pool available.

My boy wanted to stay in a hotel for one more night when we drove from Yosemite to LA. This was the one we chose, and we are pretty happy about it. Safe, clean, easy to access the freeway. Breakfast is okay, not fancy. Parking is free, located in front of the hotel, it’s easy to get a spot. Generally, it was a good stay.

The room, beddings and towels were really clean (I checked it!) but the pillows and bed were not too comfortable. There is no coffee maker in the room. The parking area is not in a fenced area and shared by a restaurant and gas station, so it doesn't feel safe. There is a small fitness room with 3 exercise equipment but one is not working. The breakfast that comes with the room rate is standard fare - bread, cereal, oatmeal packets, cold boiled eggs, fruit, coffee. It would be nice if they include a few hot item like scrambled eggs and sausages. Overall, the hotel is fair considering that their room rates are not expensive (below $100/night.

Area isn't great but the room and hotel is clean and modern with a great breakfast. Security are present in the car park which balances the issues in the area (homelessness). Only issue was our room was right above the reception so was incredibly noisy and disruptive throughout. Pros and cons to our stay.

Hotel is filthy. Carpets leading up to room were stained EVERYWHERE. I should have taken that as a sign to leave the hotel because dirty carpets were the LEAST of my worries during my stay here. I came in Friday night at 1:30 am and had to be up by 6:30 am. Within those 5 hours of sleeping on that bed, I had bed bug bites ALL over my face. It was/ is horrendous, gross and embarrassing. The best part is I was not refunded for my stay, but given an awesome 5,000 points ($20 rewards bucks) for my stay! What a joke!

It is right next to a gas station where you can hear people just hanging out in their cars with their buddies blasting their music. It isnt the hotels fault, just bad location I guess.

Not much. The room wreaked of cleaning fumes and artificial scents which I am sensitive to. The interior of the place is unappealing. I also didn’t like Bakersfield at all and would not go back there.

We had a late check-in and had no problems with the process it was fast and easy, so we were able to go straight to bed. Hotel isn’t bad at all. I just seemed to hear everyone walking and stomping on the floor above my room. The more I thought about it, I wouldn’t be surprised if the folks under me heard every step I took. Don’t know what the floors are made of, but it was weird. OTHERWISE, everything was good.

A very lovely hotel! A lot better than I was expecting for the price. Staff was really nice. I like that they had a filtered water bottle filling station by the front desk. I wish every hotel had this. I didn't have time for breakfast, had to get on the road.

Both we and Hotels.com confirmed that our reservation was supposed to be for a king bed, but the staff member working that evening said the hotel was completely sold out and there were no other options. They initially offered a rollaway bed for an extra charge, which didn’t seem fair given the situation. After some discussion, they agreed to provide it at no cost, but it was very uncomfortable—you could feel all the springs. Overall, this experience showed poor coordination and planning between the hotel and their booking partners. On the positive side, the room was clean, the property well maintained, and the location convenient. Still, it was frustrating not to receive the room we had booked and confirmed in advance.

It is what you’d expect for a hotel next to the freeway in Bakersfield. It’s clean. Beds are comfortable. Staff is friendly. Seems safe. Not very quiet though

Homeless walking around to wherever they were going. Hallway could be noisy with people closing doors and walking to elevator. However, room was quiet, did not hear noise from other rooms.

My husband was at Kern Medical. It was a 15 min drive to facility, close to Target, when I needed to get to items. The staff, especially Sheila,were friendly. Room was clean. They cleaned every other day. Breakfast consisted of bagels and cream cheese, fruit, hard boiled eggs, cereal, coffe/tea, apple and orange juice. Would have like hot breakfast option.

Area is a little sketchy but they have lots of security in the area. I love how they are always cleaning. There was a lot of noise the first few days but i think i was surronded by young 20somethings. Not to be an old lady but they were pretty loud at almost midnight.

This is my 3rd stay. The staff is consistently awesome. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. But...my first 2 stays were on the back side of the property - away from the street. This time, i was on the front side. The noise from traffic, street racers and the non-stop outside music from the nearby convenience store plus loud people outside made sleep nearly impossible. Sorry to cross this place off my list.

Area was a little rough but the location was convenient to the freeway and the event I attended. Overall it was a lovely sight and the staff were very kind, pleasant and helpful. I still give The Spark an excellent rating.

It was good except after I was sleeping I got a knock on the door, I was confused and wasn’t sure if it was my door or the neighbors then someone was able to unlock my room and come in. I think it was a worker who got the wrong room to bring an extra pullout bed but kinda sucked being woken up and someone being able to access my room while I’m sleeping. Otherwise it was a good stay

It was a place to sleep and shower. It was good for that at least. The area was not desirable however. We witnessed a drug bust in the parking lot while walking out to dinner. Police had a guy on the ground, weapons drawn. People just walking around like it was nothing. Obvious drug area as there were many wandering around.

Great beds and pillows,too much light from the window in the morning and no shower privacy at all.

Great stay. Just would like the refrigerator higher.

This area is not a good area but the motel was nice clean I didn't make it to breakfast I was told it was over at 10:00 and it was over sooner than it was so I didn't get to make it. Hard to find a parking space very cluttered in the area. I wish they had microwaves in the room and coffee machines. I also wish they had a Jacuzzi and a pool!

This a nice hotel. Conveniently located. The area felt safe. The neutral rating was due to basic city environment. I will stay there again on the return trip.

Clean & great service

Overall its good ... but didn't get extra bed for 5 occupancy room... Receptionist told they didnt get any information on this from Expedia..

We requested first floor, which they provided. Very noisy. Some traffic, but mostly due to guests either next door or upstairs.

I was in town to see my dad at the Adventist hospital. Location is good for hospital visits. There’s a gas station and Chinese’s buffet in the Sam parking lot. It was quiet all night. The free breakfast wasn’t that great but the coffee was tasty.

Comfortable beds with the best pillows! The hotel was easy to find and the staff was very friendly. The breakfast was very basic, so I wish that would have been better.

This hotel is nice and clean, despite it's surroundings. The bed is firm and the AC works great. Breakfast is reasonably varied but basic. We booked here because my daughter wanted a pool for her birthday as the city pools are still closed. It was paved over a few years back.

I did not like that the room did not have a microwave, which is very common now-a-days. In the breakfast, more options can be added. Such as bread, scrambled eggs, etc.

Clean and convenient

Property was nice. Wish the side entrance was not broken, as it would have been more convenient for us.

The hotel was very noisy with people stomping around above us until 2 or 3am. At breakfast we also felt that some of the clientele were questionable. We’ll probably avoid this brand in the future.

Very Spartan furnishings with no drawers or cabinet doors. Room felt empty. No desk chair for computer work.

The location was next door to a gas station/convenience store that play loud music on outdoor speakers at night. We could hear it when we were trying to sleep. The bed was comfortable. We enjoyed having breakfast and coffee every morning. The staff was very pleasant.

This is basically a Motel 6 with a Hilton badge on it. The hallway carpets were dirty and stained. The room didn’t have a coffee maker or microwave. The shower didn’t have enough water pressure. The breakfast was a joke. It was basically just bagels.
