Motel 6 Austin, TX - Midtown

To make matters worse, I found roaches in the bathroom. The combination of the mold smell, apparent water damage, and pest issues made the room feel unsanitary and poorly maintained. The atmosphere outside the room wasn’t any better. There were several questionable individuals lingering in the parking lot, which made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe. After seeing the condition of the room and the overall environment, I checked out almost as quickly as I checked in and booked a room at another hotel. This was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve had, and I would not recommend staying here.

The room was clean and neatly put together. Room 108 the door would not open immediately you had to pull handle a certain way and that information was not shared with me by front desk. The t in the room had no satellite or connection so I was unable to watch any tv.

Enjoyed the new hardwood flooring, new sink and common anreas, and the how clean the room was. The facility is old and needs upgrades on all hardware (doors, windows, bathtubs), the neighborhood is noisy, but price and location is good. A solid 3/5.

Night check in staff was great. The original room we had the toilet wasnt working. She was able to reach out to the property manager and switch the rooms for us. Check in was fast and easy as well. She also took into consideration the location of the room for our comfort.

Solo traveler that stayed for four nights. The room was super clean. The air conditioning was okay. No microwave or fridge. The pool is under renovation. I would call ahead to ask if you’re looking forward to use the pool considering how HOT it is in Texas. The young lady staff who welcomed me was very patient and accommodating as well as the young man who helped me checkout. I will say however, I called front desk on one of the nights and the staff(man) that answered seemed abit rude with his one worded reply. This I feel management should look into because I personally felt ignored by this. Other than this, it’s a good place to be in if you’re on a budget. There’s a 24/7 diner right next door with a 7/eleven gas station right after. There is also a bus stop station near that can take you back and forth to the airport and also to the main city for sight seeing and shopping.

Internet rarely connects or I should say there is NO internet available, Shower has weak pressure, not enough hot water. Door lock was broken, need several attempts to unlock door through keycard.

It is terrible that it is infested with pests and smells of cigarette smoke. Furthermore, the area where it is located is unsafe.

The property is old, but it can still be cleaned better than they do. The walls in the room looked like someone either spit on the walls or threw stuff at the walls. There was no iron, hair dryer, or other amenities. The door was hard to open to get in the room; the door had been kicked in or something so that pot a metal piece there instead of fixing the door frame. E asked for help when we couldn’t get in the room, and the staff act as if they didn’t speak English enough to help. It was better than the other property we were at.

I wish I had better things to say, but unfortunately I had to stay the one night, as I didn't have any other options, and was forced to find another hotel for the remainder of my stay in Austin. This is a place to be avoided if at all possible, cannot recommend it to anyone.

Pool was under construction, room was dirty and no amenities what so ever. Tv didn’t work, shower was rusty and had mildew and the towels were stained and the toilet was wobbly. Dead roaches in the lights above the bed.

People screaming and fighting in the parking lot some man beat on my car fitting with some lady. They gave someone a key to my room then came up beat on my door asking why I was there. Like dude you checked me into the room, I paid for two night and left after one. Slept in my car. Will never be even if it was free stay there again.

The only issue was that the light to the sinnk are was not working and there was a leack in the shower that kept me up all night.

The location was ideal access to highway Dead cockroaches smashed on the wall, mold in the bathtub, the walls were dirty and scuffed. The room tv screen was smashed and cracked.

Didn't shower whole stay because of baby roaches in tub (rm 115) checked in rm 128 3pm nothing was ready due to broke TV until 6pm once things seemed good, went to urinate and toilet was broke. She was claiming I belong to stay in destroyed rooms by homeless ppl as a common practice by this hotel management. I dont think so, I wasnt there for free. I deserve a decent respectful professional treatment. She act with customers like we are neighbors from her hood. She was upset because I was given at first a dirty room she failed to clean from previous customer. So I obviously had to report this, and asked for a new clean room. ?

Down the street another hotel cheaper with everything plus laundry ice etc...this place didn't even have ice. Overpriced. Rooms at first floor are destroyed as most motels in Austin, homeless ppl live in them Second Floor was much better

It’s a motel 6 so it was good for having a dog but they don’t give any shampoo or conditioner which was fine because I had my own and they don’t have a fridge or microwave in the room. Plus there was a leak in the ceiling.

It was terrible,when we first got there, the first room had stains on the bedsheets, I asked to be transferred, the next room had so much weed stench that it aggravated my asthma, the third room was okay, but there were roaches I had to kill, along with the fridge not working.

Mind you I got up and there were creepy crawlers. The next morning I went to the service desk and they moved us to a room next door. We left again with family and got to the hotel late. There was long hair I have short white hair. The air conditioner was broken.. I did tell them the next morning they needed to fix that and they apologized. Never staying there again

I never expect much from Motel 6 but I was appalled I had to convince the front desk it was a serious issue. I sincerely regret I did not take a picture but I will report it to the city. But honestly I was more disappointed with Hotels.com's response. Please know if such a situation arrises there is very little they will do to assist. At most they might make a note on the establishment's record, but the customer support agent seemed hesitto do even that.

My room had dilapidated decor and furniture along with large noticeable cracks and holes in the walls, bathtub, and toilet seat. These discrepancies don't bother me very much, because I got quite the deal with the rate at the time (~$55/night). The reason I rate the facility poorly is due to the amount of little critters I ran across during my stay. I'd say I found my first antennae-bearing friend within the first 5 minutes of me walking into my room.

The staff were friendly. Check in went smooth. However the area did not feel safe for my 5 year old. The downstairs neighbor was up all night banging on all the doors from 2am-5am. Cops were called but did not show until 8am.

Both Motel 6 and possibly Expedia should have minimum standards for properties. I had to be switched to a different room, there was possibly mold on the ceiling, the door latch was broken and TV/Remote did not work properly. The property overall was in serious disrepair. It didn't really make sense to complain to the front desk as there clearly wasn't much they could do about it. I did pick the hotel as it was the least expensive and wasn't expecting luxury, but as a national motel chain, I would have thought there would far higher minimum standards

I regularly stay there when I visit Austin. The staff is excellent.

Rooms not updated. Wall in bathroom had mold. Tub and toilet seat heavy stains. Area around had several men hanging around drinking alcohol. Several homeless people in area as well.

The front desk staff was super. The bed was clean and tidy. I wish they had given me an extra blanket as asked instead of a heavy sheet, but it was fine. The room was spacious, had a nice micro fridge and microwave. The bathroom was a good size. The only thing was the bathtub was very very outdated therefore it had mold in the caulking and the water wouldn't run hot in the shower/bath.

The environment is not totally well kept, maybe because it old. The room was okay, but could do with a little bit decorations in it. Insects flew in a couple of times at night. Then again, considering the amount paid, not much should be expected.

This property was a last resort to stay here in Austin as I was on a trip with my son. Once in a lifetime kind of trip. The door has been broken into before, repaired badly and the maintenance on this place is terrible and there was trash on the floor. The flooring was dirty and turned my socks black, the bathroom seal around the toilet is grossly dirty, the repair in tub is shameful, the bathroom door knob broke and a hole in the wall. I have pictures if you like. Thw wiring at the tv isn’t properly done and you have bare times wire showing. Outside, what should be gas’s inside the curb area is full of dog poop and trash. Just doesn’t feel safe and I hear everything people say as they walk by. The price because everything else is sold out in town was ridiculously priced. Really just a waste of my money to stay here. This is all before I go to sleep, if I can. We may take shifts to ensure nothing happens to our vehicles or people try to break in.

I needed a supercheap room just for one night while my house was being painted. It suited my purpose but I would never choose to stay here again. AC worked great. They should put refrigerators in these rooms.

This location needs to be shut down. It is infested with roaches and crickets. Blood on the curtain. You could see the outside from the inside cracks through the door even when door is fully closed. I felt truly unsafe and there was visible prostitution activity happening around the parking lot going in and out of certain rooms. Avoid this place like the plague, it is not worth the risk of staying here even 1 night.

When I say bugs galore, I mean it. Have never seen a hotel room infested with bugs the way it was. I could not sleep due to crickets found in the bed also. I asked to be moved rooms and the one that they gave me was worst. When I wanted to leave due to the issue, they would not issue me a refund. Instead of making it right, they advised me to leave the property and not come back. I knew that I wasn’t getting a Hyatt room at a Motel6, but the bug infested issue that they have is a definite health hazard.

Crickets by the dozens in my room. I was woke up during the night as they would jump on me. There was 4 on the wall at the bed, 8 on top of the door jam, etc.

On the advertisement online for that hotel it says they have a pool and breakfast they had neither one of those the pools closed permanently and they do not offer breakfast whatsoever it was very noisy and a lot of bad activity in the area I would really like to have a discount on that room it was very upsetting to me when I expected a pool and breakfast and I did not get either that's the only reason why I booked that hotel is for the pool and they've had it closed permanently for a while but on their ad online it shows a pool

There was bugs in the room, the room was absolutely filthy, wasn’t even the right room that I booked and paid for. Had to make sure that Expedia was going to refund the money because I was not going to stay there for the 4 nights I booked. Showed up and was only there for 1 hour and immediately had to find a new place to stay.

There was blood on the sheets during my first nights stay. I told housekeeping and her response was "okay." After the sheet change i found cigarette holes in the bedding cover. When entering my room the first night the tv was on and the volume was turned up as loud as it could go. The tv did not work properly for the first two nights. Tv would turn off, change channels, adjust the volume and freeze all by itself. The AC unit in the room barely worked enough to cool down the room.

The property is in need of repairs. There is no water in the swimming pool. The 1st room the bathtub was clogged. The 2nd room wemoved to the bathtub had a huge rust sopt in the bottom and the paint was all peeled. The rooms are dirty. Only 2 channels on the TV. The phones dont work. I will not stay at this location again.

Someone was trying to make sexual advances towards me while staying here

This property is really run down. No refrigerator or microwave bugs everywhere. No where to walk your dog. The water pressure is absolutely terrible.. one of my beds literally had a huge whole-dent in the middle, thank god I was only using it to put my stuff. I actually booked the hotel for 7 days but left in 4 did t even bother asking for a refund not worst the hassle. The area it’s located at is questionable.. I feel like this hotel shouldn’t even be open there’s just 2 much wrong with it . Stay away !!

I sleeped so well. It was my objective there.

Avoid this motel at all cost. You don’t have a microwave or any type of refrigerator. I had to go buy a little cooler just to keep food and drinks cold. They advertised a pool and the pool looked like it hadn’t been filled with water in 2 years. The area around the hotel is absolutely horrendous as well. No plug ins any where close to a bed to or might stand so I had to have my phone on the other side of the room while charging. The tv in my room was mounted to the wall but was missing a screw so it was crooked as heck. Luckily I was able to dig my hand into the wall to find the screw and manually screw the screw in myself I’ve stayed at some cheap motels in my day as I travel for work but holy moly this one was by far the worst. I would avoid this one at all cost!

There was a cricket in the wall that didn’t let me sleep

The price is decent however The area is surrounded by homeless people.
