Reviews
The hotel staff is consistently praised for their friendliness and helpfulness. The location is also a high point, being close to many attractions and public transportation. However, cleanliness and maintenance issues are frequently mentioned, along with concerns about parking costs and availability.

I had a really pleasant stay at Hotel Ellis! Every staff member I interacted with was super friendly. I had aa premium room and it was a great size and super comfortable. The location was also very walkable to nearby restaurants, convenience stores, and transit spots.

The Staff was exceptional, location was great for the event I attended. Softness on the bed I loved and walking distant from restaurants The area for valet.

We stayed here for a concert last weekend. The hotel staff was very kind and attentive. Our room was stocked and clean and had the best smelling complimentary bath products ever. I’d happily stay here again. Easy walk to restaurants, centennial park, State Farm arena etc. I highly recommend the Ellis.

The room was clean, and the staff was very helpful. It's nice that they have Starbucks coffee downstairs in the mornings. There are several great restaurants within walking distance of the Ellis, including a great brewpub just across the street and down the hill. It is also within easy walking distance of State Farm arena if you're going to an event there.

Extremely friendly staff, they ran out of body wash which was frustrating, but other than that, great budget hotel, great location. About a 10 minute walk to the aquarium,

The hotel is long overdue for renovations. I barely slept. The toilet made a loud noise all night.

Great location near the Olympic park and great staff. Walter at the reception and everyone was just so friendly and helpful!

The hotel was small, but clean and attractive. My room was extremely quiet, which was a plus. I had a room that faced an adjacent building, so natural light was limited and my in-room lighting was dim. Any staff members I dealt with were very attentive and nice, particularly Izzy at check in. It was nice enough but not the boutique hotel I thought I was getting.

Location is good, easy walk to many restaurants. The staff were amazing, caring and willing to help at all times. James who was in charge of Valet was very helpful. Everyone there makes you feel welcome.

The staff were super friendly and it’s a great location for visitors who like to walk instead of driving: everything downtown is very accessible. However, when we checked in on Friday, they had issues with entry cards to get into your room. A staff member would have to let you in, so it kind of limited your access in and out your room, if I left the room. I taught my 14 yr old daughter the secret knock to let me back in, and in your room your AC only has an up down, high, med, low FAN setting, NO ACTUAL AC! I had ours on 60 degrees, and it was atleast 75 degrees in the room. We woke up sweating both nights we stayed there. I told someone Friday and Saturday, but no one ever fixed it. I almost called Saturday night at 2 am and ask them to bring me a damn box fan!!! I couldn’t wait to leave because it was too HOT, and I couldn’t get into my room because of the keycard issue! Update your hotel! Shouldn’t be hard to do especially with amount that is charged per night!!

Unseasonable weather forced the cancellation of the show I was going to Atlanta to see. I didn't get trip insurance, which is on me. I did, however, call the hotel the second I heard. I promptly got a non-human offer to be called back by the reservations desk the second someone was available. And waited. I'm still waiting, two days later and well after paying for a room I couldn't use. I can bear the cost of a missed stay if I have to. Not getting even the chance to speak to a human being about it is harder to bear. Maybe I would have been better off with a cheap motel with one actual person sitting near a phone at the front desk, instead of a large hotel with ample staff backed by a large chain.

Need better lighting in bathrooms and replace bathroom sliding doors so they stay open. Understanding this is an old building, but two elevators seem insufficient for the property. I waited 5 minutes for the elevator once during my stay. Better dining offerings, especially breakfast.

This is just another reminder that Marriott will lend their name to just about any hotel that will use thier reservation system. it is tired. Not professional. No TV remote in the room. The replacement remote they brought up did not work. Only one towel in the room. The sink and shower had a surge of muddy water come out when first turned on. the shower drain did not work - you stood in dirty water while showering. Will not stay here again.

The staff was exceptional throughout my stay. From check-in to checkout, everyone was professional, friendly, and genuinely considerate. I especially appreciated the follow-ups after I checked in—just to make sure everything in my room was up to standard. It’s the kind of extra attention that makes a stay memorable. My room was spotless, well-appointed, and surprisingly quiet for being in a busy part of the city. After long days on the course, coming back to such a clean, comfortable space made all the difference. Overall, I’d highly recommend The Ellis Hotel to anyone visiting Atlanta—whether you’re here for business, a tournament, or just a quick getaway. Great location, great people, and the kind of service that goes above and beyond.

The room was beautiful with a great view of downtown. The staff was very helpful. The valet went to the parking garage where we originally parked and moved our car to their valet spots. The concierge upgraded our room. Helped us find the venue we were heading to. Gave us walking directions and then called on our way back to make sure we didn't get lost. This could be our best hotel experience.

This was a brief stay following a concert. It was a oerfect location and we learned about the history (which I read online) from a very warm and welcoming employee. The room was clean other than dust on the base of the bathroom mirror. I like the QR being left with housekeeping employee's name so we could tip in various ways.

The homeless situation in every direction of the hotel is rampant. I was accosted every time I left the hotel. The neighborhood smelled like urine and people literally defecate on the sidewalks. The crazy thing is there’s nice restaurants everywhere in Atlanta, but I did not feel safe, walking the streets. I’m from Baltimore and I know there’s a homeless situation here but at times it felt like the TV show, The Walking Dead .Atlanta is a very cool and culturally mixed city and I will definitely return, but not in this area.

The room i stayed in the bathroom sink was stooped up and drained very slow. The toilet was leaking water onto the floor. My tv did not work, maintenance said there was nothing he could do with the tv it needed to be replaced. Also parking is so far away that you end up using there valet parking and it’s $ 50.00 a night. All that I went through I received nothing discounted.

The staff is excellent, very friendly and helpful. However the area is not so good. The room was tiny, good for one person. The A/C quit working on our second day, but it was always late when we returned and really didnt have the time to deal with it. So very uncomfortable temperature to sleep in. On the bright side, there is an excellent brewery, Skohl, right across the street 😀

Last minute family trip, James kept us laughing (something that we needed). Very friendly and professional. He Treated us like family. Stacey was a breath of fresh air. My son has autism, we encountered her during check out, she knew exactly how to respond to him. She didn’t make me feel as if I needed to be defensive. He verbally and VERY clearly stated something that he wanted (“I want Swedish fish!”) she was just as excited as us (hes semi verbal). We conversed about him and she positively reassured me of some things. Again a breath of fresh air!!!! Because of those two employees, my first time staying at Ellis was great!! My family also stated they’d stay again. Thanks again! Not only did we need this trip but we needed the hospitality.

Greetings. My stay was short but enjoyable due to the friendliness and professionalism of the staff, as well as the location. The hotel was clean, and the room was comfortable. The convenience of breakfast was good.

Extremely clean and well managed hotel. Quiet with no street noise. The front desk is friendly and genuinely welcomes you back each night, asking how was your day. When they saw that I was drenched by a rainstorm they provided towels without me having to ask. Jamie the barrista in the morning coffee shop is an engaging, energetic person who welcomes everyone with a warm smile and good humor. All these personal touches made my trip more enjoyable.

The location is great. Loved the room and front desk staff. Short walk to Olympic Park, stadiums, aquarium and great food and entertainment. 10 feet from streetcar and train station. Water, tea, and coffee in room. Safe, mini-refrigerator, iron, hair dryer, good wifi, lots of non-USB-c plugs and outlets. Only has valet off site parking, no pool, city noise kept us up on the 7th floor til 2am and we needed to leave at 4am for my work. Area is known for crime and heavy homeless population. You will have to use your key to get in 3 different times to get to your room and once to get out. No room service. TV location is definitely an afterthought and can’t be seen in Bed. Nothing available in room telling about any in the hotel or services and online website less than helpful. Just google it or call front desk.

Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the hotel history and lore surrounding it, which I was completely unaware of. Their food and entertainment recommendations were superb. It was a pleasure to stay there!

Great place to stay friendly and clean

Stacy was so amazing! Her customer service goes above and beyond! All of the front desk staff and housekeeping attendants were so nice. I even had an unexpected change to my travel plans due to weather and they made it so easy for me to extend my stay. I definitely will be back again and again. I highly recommend for those on solo travel for business or leisure.

Stacy at the front desk and April at valet were so incredibly helpful and welcoming. We only wish we could have stayed longer.
- 5/5
Clean , secure and pleasant front desk personnel.
- 5/5
And great views Nothing.

Parking was inconvenient regardless of if you self parked, did valet, or uber. Other than that, it was a great hotel, and we enjoyed our stay. Friendly staff, clean room, and was quiet on the 6th floor.

Great stay, Lewis was friendly and helpful everyday we saw him. Would definitely stay here again!

Great location
- 3/5
Not a safe area, homeless people laying around, others begging for money. My husband and I will never be back in that area, 28 dollars for parking per day down the street or valet 50.00 a day. If you need lunch or dinner you will not get with this hotel. We attended the NRA convention.
- 5/5
Stacy Brittany and Troy went above and beyond to make sure me and my family were comfortable while traveling with my kids they accommodated us so well and was so friendly and caring. The only thing I didn’t like was the parking situation and leaving my car a block over in a parking garage that came out to almost $$90 for self parking.
- 5/5
The front desk staff was extremely kind, providing me extra water for free and although I checked out late did not charge me extra, without even mentioning it. The room was very quiet and the bed very comfortable.
- 5/5
The hotel itself is nice. The area before entering the lobby is very smelly.
- 5/5
Valet and staff were very helpful.
- 5/5
Nice, clean, hotel with comfortable beds. The rooms are a little small, but the hotel is centrally located and walkable to many attractions. There is also plenty of dining nearby.
- 4/5
The room was quiet and the bed comfortable. Everything was clean. The AC did not work well in the room.
- 3/5
It’s was ok. My rating was based on the service being great BUT every morning around 5:30am what sounds like a dump truck dumps trash and it last for abt 10 minutes. It’s so loud and I wake up at 6am so it was quite disruptive. And the second night there were random loud noises throughout the night, again disrupting, I slept horrible the second night. Also the gym trash was overflowing, cldnt figure out the water dispenser and the sanitizing wipes were dry.
- 5/5
I was in town for a wedding and this place was literally next door which is why I chose it. But I would come back to just for the staff and that oh so comfortable bed. Best sleep I’ve had in a long time. The staff is amazing from check in to check out. It felt like staying at a friend’s house. They greet you when you come in the building and come off the elevator. I only had one issue with the room and it was rectified the next day. I was even offered a different room but it really wasn’t that big of a deal. Can’t wait to come back
- 5/5
Stacey at the front desk was amazing! We are coming back this week and choosing this place again because of her amazing energy and customer service.
- 5/5
Staff was so excellent!
- 4/5
Nice hotel and very convenient to public transportation and tourist attractions. Bathrooms need better ventilation and larger showers.
- 5/5
Staff was amazing and so kind and helpful.
- 4/5
Clean and comfortable rooms, friendly and helpful staff. Perfect location for what we wanted to do. Walking distance to the aquarium and so many other places.
- 4/5
Quiet hotel
- 5/5
The valet
- 4/5
The staff is friendly, professional and helpful. The room and facilities are clean and there are sufficient amenities for a mid-range hotel. Plenty of nearby restaurants. The location is both good and bad. It is convenient to some good restaurants and a MARTA station is directly across the street if that is what you need. The bad, the location is in the heart of urban life with loud mentally ill homeless people hitting you up for money and making lots of noise. The worst part, do not drive a car there. They charge $52 per night for parking, and even though the valet staff are very helpful, parking, even temporarily, is a pain.

Very good

Lovely. Staff helpful and friendly.
- 5/5
I love the “small hotel vibe” of the Ellis with so many of the conveniences & services of a large hotel.
- 5/5
Clean, nice, quiet, staff was great!!!
- 5/5
Perfect for business in downtown Atlanta
- 5/5
Exceptional property. Front desk person was super attentive and friendly. Clean rooms. Great location walking distance from MARTA which saved me from a lot of time walking in the rain. No complaints.
- 4/5
The location was great for walking with close by restaurants, and very helpful staff. The size of room.
- 5/5
I liked the dining options.
- 5/5
The location was great, very close to restaurants and right on the center of downtown Atlanta, the people in the hotel was great, the quest service was very friendly special Stacy, Tia,Louis and the special lady in the coffe area.
- 3/5
The front desk clerk Louis was amazing! He was very sweet and made sure to ask how our room was!
- 5/5
It is a nice property in the heart of Atlanta. The hotel is conveniently located next to the Marta station. We enjoyed our stay and every staff member was super friendly
- 5/5
The staff were wonderful
- 5/5
Very friendly staff, clean facilities, enjoyable stay
- 5/5
The check in was smooth and welcoming.
- 5/5
The only problem I had was parking and unpacking my vehicle. It was a long haul from the parking garage to hotel.
- 5/5
The view was amazing! Staff was awesome! Perfect staycation!
- 5/5
The front desk associates were friendly. They greeted you every time they saw me.
- 5/5
Lewis (front desk) was an absolute joy! Thank you for sharing your joy with all who enter!
- 4/5
The hotel was located near my office.
- 5/5
Friendly staff and clean hotel. When we checked in the gentleman was very helpful. Our room was comfortable and pretty quiet too even though we were near the elevator. We were about a 15 min walk from State Farm Arena. One suggestion, the parking garage behind the hotel recharges at 6am, so even though we were there less than 24 hours, we were charged almost $60, which I thought was ridiculous!
- 5/5
The staff at the Ellis were amazing!
- 5/5
We park on the street parking nearby instead of valet parking.
- 2.5/5
The hotel itself was great! Staff was friendly, and helpful. There is no parking. We parked in public parking for one night (within view of the hotel). Our car window was smashed even though nothing was in our car. Would not stay again due to having to use public parking.
- 1/5
The showered weren’t working switched room 3 time 1st shower didn’t get hot 2 nd room the shower did not work
- 5/5
I really enjoyed my stay!!!!!
- 4/5
It was a small but nice room, near elevator and ice machine. The staff was a pleasure to work with and made issues easy. They needed to help with parking, other than saying there was a $45 valet parking. I drove around and save $15 parking it myself, but the next morning passed nearby parking for $10 instead of the $30 I paid. Also, found a used washcloth at the top of the shower screen.
- 5/5
The hotel was in a great place and had valet parking. Great walking ability
- 5/5
Great Place To Lay Your Head
- 5/5
Tia was an amazing front desk employee and cares about the customers
- 5/5
Hotel was spotless. Premium King room was spacious and modern. A little outside noise but it is in the centre of a city. Very central with good access to amenities. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Starbucks on ground floor perfect for a simple breakfast
- 4/5
It's dated and the staff have done their best. A deep cleaning of the room would be great. Also, I don't feel like the room/lobby looked as nice as the posted pictures.
- 5/5
Always a warm welcome! Clean. Cozy.
- 3/5
Location The bed was hard, the shower had low pressure, and our view sucked.
- 5/5
Staff where very friendly especially the ladies in the coffee shop. Parking was only steps away from the door super easy. Location was great we walked to all the attractions with ease. We loved our stay. Will definitely be there again. Nothing
