Charming bed and breakfast. Wish I stayed longer.

Started off with the owner meeting us and helping us with our bags. She was always there for breakfast (fresh eggs from their chickens) and anytime we needed her. A wonderful place. Incredible breakfast and service. Theyalso have a wonderful covered porch and the location is awesome especially if you’d like to visit historical areas. We have stayed at various hotels in Lynchburg over the last three years but would come here every single time now that we know about it.

The owners of this property were absolutely wonderful and I would seriously consider staying there again. That said if you want a modern 5 star hotel this is not the place for you. Bed was comfortable but the room itself was not very large with limited space for luggage. Bathroom on the other hand was quite large. Due to age of the inn itself the floor were somewhat uneven in places.

An amazing stay in Appomattox. The property is charming, very clean, owner very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was outstanding! There are multiple porches, patios, and balconies to find a nice quiet place to relax and unwind. The room we had worked well for a family of three. Beds are comfortable and the shower in the updated bathroom felt so good.

In the area for Parents Weekend at Longwood University. A 30 minute drive. The room was very comfortable, shower was awesome and our hostess went out of the way to get us ice and decaf hot tea for my wife. Breakfast was great and we enjoyed sitting in the living room before leaving Sunday morning. This B&B will be our first choice if we ever need to spend the night in the Farmville area. 5 stars!!!

My wife and I stayed one night at the Babcock House in order to visit the Appomattox Court House. Room was nicely done with a great bathroom with walk-in shower and full bath. Area is quiet and we did a short walk to the nearby train station. Dinner was exceptional.

\The Inn is a short trip to Lynchburg and we thoroughly recommend this to anyone visiting that area. There are nearby attractions like Appomattox historical site, and the Maier museum at Randolph College in Lynchburg has a superb collection of American impressionist artists; for a small free museum it can rival many museums in Europe in quality if not size. The staff was pleased to discuss the collection and the museum should be on “bucket list” of every art lover in this region. We also dined at the inn and could not have been more pleased. Our meal rivaled many in Paris in our recent visit. The restaurant is not routinely open so if they offer you dinner, do not miss this Michelin Guide quality food and service. Also visit the National D-Day memorial in Bedford. We have frequently been to D-Day beaches in Normandy itself, and the American cemetery (opening/closing scenes of Saving Private Ryan) with my WWII Veteran parents and other visitors. This simple monument in rural VA will help to understand D-Day, and the 22 of 32 Bedford soldiers in the first wave at Omaha beach among the thousands killed that day. It left an enormous lump in our throats. So memorable.

The atmosphere and staff were amazing. Situated just a block or so from "downtown" Appomattox, VA, the property is both convenient and beautiful. The innkeeper greeted us with a huge Southern smile and made us feel like valued family members. Our room was very nice and comfortable. The on-site restaurant was exceptional both in terms of service and food quality. Our wait person, Rochelle, took great care of us. The menu had sufficient variety and the meatloaf was delicious! Our stay was only for a single night due to time constraints, but we would go back for a longer visit. The breakfast on the morning of our departure was very good with eggs to order, grits, and delicious bacon. A fantastic find and great place to stay!

This is an absolute gem of a property. The owners have thought of every amenity in their beautifully furnished rooms. More than that, the House serves fabulous food on Wednesday-Sunday evenings. And wait - the breakfast offered to overnight guests is AMAZING. Do not miss The Babcock House. It was a highlight of our entire vacation!

We loved Babcock House. Hosts, Talia and Charles, were charming and the other guests were interesting and nice to chat with. The food was amazing--Charles really knows how cook first-rate gourmet food. My husband and I explored the National Park at Appomattox Courthouse. Afterwards, coming back to Babcock House with it's ancient trees and old-fashioned interiors the life of that town during the war became more accessible.

The Babcock House exceeded my expectations. The room and amenities were top shelf. The breakfast was delicious and healthy each day. The dinners were up there with any other exclusive city restaurant. It appeared that the chef used a variety of cooking techniques and ingredients to create his dinners. This bed and breakfast is one of the best I have stayed at.

We stayed here rather than in a traditional hotel while attending graduation at Liberty University. The location allows you to enjoy the rich history of Appomattox while in close proximity to Liberty's campus in Lynchburg. This place is truly a gem and if you're in the area be sure to visit. Other than the graduation itself, the Babcock house was the highlight of our trip.

We really enjoyed this unique hybrid Bed and Breakfast. The Babcock House offers a regular restaurant as well as the usual breakfast. The food is made on-site by an excellent chef/owner and was delicious and unique. Cloth napkins and place mats added a welcome touch. It was like staying in an old southern mansion, surrounded by beautiful large trees, but with running water, flush toilets, and a TV. We also spent some time in the evening sitting outside on the balcony listening the the evening sounds. The staff and owners were friendly and helpful. We had a great time and are planning on returning. This is a gem in Appomattox. If you are tired of cookie cutter rooms, bland food, and poor service, then this is the place for you.

Talia was the most gracious hostess/innkeeper! We felt like we had privacy, but could quickly receive any necessary attention if required. She inquired about dietary restrictions for breakfast, made recommendations for local events and was the epitome of southern hospitality. The room was very comfortable, and pleasingly quiet even with the restaurant in the evening. I was able to enjoy my morning coffee sitting on the terrace upstairs and just enjoy peaceful relaxation.

Wow! This place was fantastic! The whole staff went overboard to make our stay the greatest. They treated us like royalty. I am recovering from back surgery and our room totally accommodated my limitations. The greatest part was the fantastic meals, especially our breakfasts. This place should be on the top 50 to stay and kiss in Virginia. If I had my way it would be in the top 5.

VERY friendly and welcoming staff - food is EXCELLENT. The included hot breakfast was hearty and delicious and included french pressed coffee at the table. The downstairs of the house is a restaurant open to the public (not open late) and the food is prepared by a highly skilled chef - you will want to eat here for dinner or lunch, make a reservation just in case it's a busy night/day when you're there! Although the restaurant is below the rooms, we could not hear any noise from it, nor from other rooms - that can be a problem at some B&Bs we've stayed with, but not this one. The rooms are charming and clean - bed was comfortable. Enjoyed the little sitting room downstairs with fireplace, was a little too cold for the upstairs balcony. Covered Outdoor seating for the restaurant looked inviting if you're there a warmer time of year. Enjoy the historical sites and be back to your room in 5-10 minutes.

We stayed at Babcock House for two nights on a trip to Appomattox. The whole house is so lovely, and our room was charming and comfortable. Our hostess was helpful and so friendly. Our breakfasts were extraordinary. We felt very pampered! Our only regret is that we were not there on a day that the restaurant was open. We would have loved to try it after the delicious breakfasts! Staying here was a bit of a splurge for us, but it was well worth it, and we would definitely stay there again if we travel to that area.
