The room smelled of cigarettes and the entire property was old and run down We checked out after one night This hotel does not deserve it’s 2 star rating

It was cool. I enjoyed the stay

I had to ask for clean towels the second day and my room was not cleaned on that day.

So this is an interesting one. On one hand the hotel is situated in a fairly sketchy area of Route 1, but on the other hand, the property (although a bit dated) is fairly well maintained. I only stayed one night, but I’d consider staying more next time for the right price and convenience

The motel is close to banks, all types of popular eating restaurants, shopping centers, main highways to DC and MD and all within .03 miles.

Honestly, I stayed maybe two hours in the room before I left. The bed had stained and torn sheets. The pillows were thin like paper. I found pubic hair in the bed. I tried to sleep but just could not do it.

Behind the covid shield it was next to impossible to understand what the employees were saying. We didn't have adequate supplies like towels, wash cloths, and toilet paper so I was regularly going after something.

Check in was easy.

It was really good pricing but really dirty they had mold all over the bathrooms and they had trash in the fridge and floor even the bathtub had cigarette buds and the whole room just smelt like cigarettes..

Price is right and nobody bothers you. Convenient access to train, bike trail.

This property should be removed from the site as an option. There is a terrible in the lobby and the rooms. The furniture is outdated and the covers don’t look cleaned. I would encourage you to seek another property it’s worth spending an additional $20 and get something better

Parking was not a problem. The problem was with the first room that I was given. The shower didn’t have a soap holder,so I had to hold the soap in my hand while I showered. The furniture was not clean and the walls were dirty and stained. I complained about the bathroom and was given another room. When I went to sleep in the bed the mattress was worn out and very uncomfortable. The walls were also stained and dirty. This was the worst experience with a room I have ever experienced

I was apprehensive when I first started my stay at The Virginia Lodge. The marquis sign is missing light bulbs that reminds one of "missing teeth." Weeds grow from cracks in the parking lot and the base of buildings. My room needed a paint job as do the buildings outside. But as my stay progressed, I was impressed with the amenities provided. There is a microwave, refrigerator, cable TV and WIFI (though I did not use its WIFI). It's a pretty good value for the $62-69 per night stay that Expedia charged. Were it not for lack of property upkeep, The Virginia Lodge would be on par with the Holiday Inn.

The hotel was dated, but not too bad. Bed was clean and good, firm mattress. Room was HUGE with good blackout curtains. Bathroom was old (rusted curtain rod), but effort had been made to update. Towels were lacking- very small (that is an area where owners/managers can improve). The area was a bit "sketchy" right on the highway with people milling about outside at all hours. As a single female traveler I felt a bit uneasy but had no issues. I would stay here again for the price. I just needed a quick rest after getting stuck on 95 in a surprise snowstorm I was not prepared for nor desired to drive in. I continued my trip the next day with no issues.

I always have great stays here but this last stay was not up to standard my room was clean but not cleaned it seemed like the house keeper did a quick 1 2 in the room. I have to clean the room before i got settled and i also seen roaches and this was my first time in over 5 years of staying at this property that i seen a roach i hope that that problem is taken care of because i really like staying here

The stay overall was ok. I do wish that the bathroom was more up-to-date and there was more keeping up with the cleaning. When trying to take a shower there were spiders in the bathroom. The bedsheets could have been cleane.There were brown and faded red like stains on the bedsheets.And there was no more than two channels on the TV which were the news and one documentary channel there was no access to HDMI or AirPlay on the TV. I wish that there was better lightbulbs in the lamps as well the current lightbulbs they give off a unwell energy or dim.

Old fashioned off road Motel that reminds you of the fun you used to have when traveling back in the day. It has all your basic needs, rooms are clean, microwave, fridge, clean towels, heat and/or air, a plethora of restaurants within a 3 block radius; and yes it has a quiet ambiance.

The price point was attractive. The irony of the no smoking notices posted at the front desk and on the room's door was significant. It seemed like almost everyone around us chose this motel so that they could smoke pot in it. Our room reeked of it for most of our 2 day stay. Waves of the stench came out of neighboring rooms. I would not return to this property based on that issue. Plus, there we stains on the chairs in the room, so I didn't sit on any of them.

Room 164 should be a storage space. It’s too close to the Taj of India Restaurant. My wall is their wall. Constant noise like stacking trays and dishwashing . There is zero soundproofing between room 164 and the extreme banging of the business next door. Sounds like pure drywall and nothing else. I thought after a couple of mentions to front desk that this noise was just several minutes not several hours. How can this room be called hospitality accommodations when the occupant of the room is bombarded with workplace noise. I would politely demand a refund of booking and or a free days stay. Any inspector of this Room 164 Virginia Lodge can easily agree with me just by staying a few hours during restaurant opening to close. Its terrible. I like the layout of the room. You would sleep better if you were in someone’s backyard with music talking and barbecue grilling going on. My name is Kevin. The staff is extremely humble and helpful like family. I like them and will continue to support this business but not from Room 164

My family and I were very disappointed with the quality of this hotel seeing as it had a 7.7 rating. Had I not paid for the whole stay up front we would've moved to another place. Asked for an iron and never received it. There was a bed sheet over the mattress. Under that mattress was stains and cigarette holes. In no way could the ratings be real people who stayed at this establishment.

This is place was a dump lied on there picture holes in the sheet no mattress pad the staff was so rude there was a couple fighting since 6am the man was hitting her and the staff did nothing

I thought that the reception person was very good. I had an issue with the television that was fixed very quickly, largely due to the maintenance staff.

The room was decent but there were things that could be improved, such as the chairs had major stains on them. I didn't want to touch them. Everything else was okay. Workers were very nice though

The whole room smelled like cigarettes, and the sink was in the room not bathroom. It was also clogged. The blanket also had stains, looked like cigarette marks along with the chairs. We only stayed one night even though we booked two. Left early because we couldn't stay another night. I gave two instead of one because the staff were kind and the bathroom was actually very clean. The biggest issue was the smell, the cleanthliness of the room and the sink being clogged, very gross. This was a last minute booking. I do unfortunately will never be returning to this location.

It was conveniently located near the metro which was a plus. The comforter had holes in it which was off putting and the shower had coins in it which was weird because why didn’t the cleaning staff pick those up.

This motel is very tired however it was fully booked likely due to the price. There is no easy chair in the room. A table & 2 straight chairs. No desk and thus poor light for writing. The carpet was stained in our room. The bathroom is small. Minimal towels available for use. Not the greatest experience.

Had to fix tv, king bed had two pillows and they had no fluff to them. Very clean, pleasant check in amd out. Due to discomfort of the bed and lack of pillow and blankets, woke up every two hours.

My hideaway spot from society! I always enjoy my stay at the Virginia Lodge. It’s quiet, and relaxing. Only thing that I didn’t like about the stay is the bathroom. I asked for a room for a bathtub so that I could soak. The tub didn’t have a stopper. Also, the shower didn’t work properly. Overall, I was able to enjoy my thanksgiving getaway. I was able to store my home cooked food in the refrigerator. I was also able to heat up my food using the microwave. Any time I stay I always get a smoking room. My hidden gem in Alexandria !

The reviews about this property are misleading. Several people rated their stay as good or even exceptional, however that is not true. The lobby has cracked floor tiles, trash on the ground and the employee is behind bulletproof glass. The room was dingy, with a dirty door, no hangers, no hand towels, paper thin bath towels and a lumpy, old mattress. It is too bad, because with some effort, cleaning and care, this could be a charming place. It is a wreck and the worst place we stayed on our trip.

Had a great Indian cuisine restaurant attached. Property needs a competent maintenance team for continuous upgrades.

I made reservation for a NON SMOKING ROOM but I was given a smoked one which made my breathing very uncomfortable.

It was a really nice place for the price, infact I've stayed at more expensive places that weren't as nice. I wasn't looking for luxury, just did clean, quiet place to sleep for the night and this was more than I expected! The service was very simple too, easiest check in I've ever had

It's no need in complaining cause it ain't like they are listen to what anybody suggest anyways. But hey I guess you get what you pay for I can't wait to get my own. But to be absolutely honest a face lift will do the Virginia Lodge very well. Stop trying to live like the Jones' its ok to be different.

The room was supposed to be non-smoking. I opened the door the smoke hit you in the face. I tried another room it had a bad odor. I stay in the smoke smelling room. I went to sleep and noticed all the cigarette burns in the comforter and the sheet several cigarette burn holes. The price should have been $50 a night. Not a good experience.

Basically looks like somewhere drug addicts would stay. Room was dirty and smelled horrible. I was afraid to even sit on any of the furniture there. Only booked as a last resort, would not recommend at all.

While going into the bathroom to disinfectant everything i noticed that the toilet was dirty. Not wanting to be bothered i just cleaned it. The rest of the day went pretty okay but a few hours before i checked out the following day i saw a cockroach going up the wall in the sink area. I heavily sprayed it with the disinfectant and killed it. I ended up checking out a day before i was suppose to

The room is considerably big and equipped in an old building that needs a lot of improvement and maintenance. The carpet was super dirty and there was a terrible smell of cigarette in the room. The location is OK because the metro is about 20 minutes walking but the area feels unsafe and definitely not walkable after dark. It is around 1h by metro from Washington DC Downtown.

Dorty old room. Terrible dirty bed. Hairs in sheets like thay hadent been changed. Room was very smelly and dirty. Everything needs redone. Bed and bed cover and especially mattress cover was so bad it was literly coming apart. It was so nasty the owners should be embarrassed to have not repaleced many things especially bed, sheets, matress cover etc.
