The lobby inside is about the only thing that was clean. Let's back up and start by saying my original trip for my anniversary was changed, so we chose to rent a room for the weekend and enjoy a hot tub jacuzzi . Entering the room there was torn wallpaper, filth and dirt everywhere. I spent an hour with my own cleaning supplies cleaning the room. Sanitized everything. The bed sheets had stains so I brought my own. The room was much better when I left. The jacuzzi was perfect. The 2nd day did not have water for about 4 hrs. The place. Could have a very nice Hotel if the owner would update the room and clean up the property. Train your employees the right way. I could have those rooms in tip top shape in no time. Maintenance would be fired. Front desk staff are rude. Not much for a breakfast but nice. I personally heard the front desk staff and maid talking about me for asking for more coffee and towels. Disrespectful. Would not waste my money again.

The rooms were dirty. They smell bad. The furniture had stains and rip marks all over the furniture. The housekeeper boyfriend around with a gun watching her. I was a all around bad experience. I will never go back there.

Please do not stay here. Roaches were found on the bed. Unknown stains were found on the lampshade. The bathroom was dirty. It’s also non-refundable if you book through expedia. The area doesn’t seem all that safe and it seems like you get no privacy since people can just walk up to your door. Scratches, dents, and stains on the wall. The staff is already aware of the nastiness of the rooms but still allows people to stay in the rooms. Multiple stains were found on multiple sheets on my bed. We did not stay here for the night , please do not stay there either.

The room was immaculately clean. The water was hot and there was good pressure. The mattress was comfortable. The small coffee pot in the room did not work, but everything else was fine.

The staff was nice, the room was clean but the top latch on the door was broke. The sheets weren’t too clean. It’s near plenty of shopping and restaurants. It was quiet.

The staff was pleasant. The rooms were filthy, rug was torn, all they provided for a "breakfast on the go was a small muffin and pastry. Powered creamer for coffee. We had to keep asking for towels, toilet paper, and such.

Had an unresolved issue with a leak in the bathroom. Cleaned it up with towels and did not replace those towels. Did not receive housekeeping while this was going on. Did not partake in breakfast as options are very limited. I did receive good customer service, an effort was made in that area.

nothing..............................................rented room srom sunday to monday anticipating to rent room an additional day, At check in the associate stated i could not pay then to call in the am prior to check out. got to room on 2nd floor by stairs , no cart provided, my daughter had a suitcase, this is not up to standards in my opinion. doors open people watching you go by.not safe. got in towels in toilet, i am assuming they fell, went back down and she only wanted to give me one towel , its a double room , bed and 100.00 like give me my towels, no apology nothing. in the am called downstairs to add another night not wanting to pack up and she was rude. So i left they are a lowgrade place. I will never in life rent there. The beds were very uncountable and it didn't have a comfortable chair

My reservation never showed up for my stay so I had to pay 80 dollars for one night and your website wouldn't let me cancel so I was never able to get my refund for the days I booked that y'all took out my account

The stay was wonderful honestly, and I loved the exceptionally hot water that seemed to last forever. I was very sick and came here for that reason alone. They were very friendly until they thought we were hot boxing the room. All it was, was steam! Heated water causes steam and it is cold out... Lol I am a good tenant even at a hotel. After the second day of having them beat on the door to make sure they must've realized that we weren't doing anything stupid. Oh, and my service dog was welcome once they saw her paperwork and license. I didn't like that we couldn't get extra or dry towels when we needed them we had to wait for the cleaning folks to come around to get more after they, I guess, went to wash them. We never got any more toilet paper after the first day but, we stayed 3 nights. I needed the lengthy hot water and if I came by myself they would not have been able to get in with me in the shower. I could not have gotten to the door for it so... Really it was kind of rude to assume we would be doing something like hot boxing our room. Heated water causes steam especially in cold weather

The fact that ownership called the Authorities on me because as a handicapped man with incontinence issues I wet and left a minor stain on their bed that they refused to bring me Sheets or towels for the whole weekend of Black Friday!! They went on to that me and my girlfriend trashed the room when in fact the Trash was never picked up all weekend either so we had no idea what more to do with it but leave it organized neatly in a pile near the door like you would at any other hotel when checking out. So we didn't get our deposit back and they tried a week later to charge her card over $200. I will never stay at The Howard Johnson in Aiken SC again and I won't send them Guests

The hotel was a crack motel drugs and people running around at 1AM. I didnt even enter the room. Was given a room in the very back of the motel asked to change and was informed that it was the only available room. But I saw several rooms that were vacant.

Room was very dirty- the carpet on the floor had visible dirt on it - leaves, crumbs, etc. it looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in months. There was food wrappers still on the floor near the bedside table, the fire alarm was taken off the wall, leaving a hole. The couch was absolutely FILTHY with stains. The mattress and sheets seemed cleaned, but had old stains on them as well. The bathroom was the only space that looked like someone cleaned it. The walls were very thin and you could hear everything. You could also smell if people were smoking outside and in their rooms- it was seeping through to our room. The continental breakfast was just old looking muffins in the fridge with some coffee and old oranges. I wouldn't really advertise it as a breakfast.

I loved how quiet and clean everything was. Normally I don’t feel safe with the walk outside at inns but this was an exception The water pressure in the shower and the heat from the water took forever to get just right

There was toenail clipping on the floor in the room when we arrived. It was obvious the floors had not been vacuumed. When we checked the sheets, the mattress protector was disgusting and clean sheets were just put on top of it.

The room smelled like Granny had just smoked 3 packs of Marlboro reds. Room was dirty, actual visible crumbs on the floor. At least the roach on the floor was dead. here was flies on the ceiling. Boogers stuck to the wall in the bathroom. Looks like a 3rd grader did the caulk job around the faucet in the shower. I dont think the sheets were clean, there was eyeliner on the pillows. Balls of hair all over the floor and bathroom. It was late so we slept in our clothes on top the sheets. At least we didn't see any bed bugs!

Cosmetics like patches of popcorn ceiling and no popcorn ceiling. Sharpe markings on the wall left to the bed as if it was a a spot that had work done. The wall next to the sink has an unpatched hole in the wall (best guess is a punch to the wall) followed by dry blook smeared on the door (small amount). Toilet flush chain is rusted and broken...had to fish for it. The shower head is rusty. Still not terrible for one night, the price and location.

Cons: These upgrades are like putting lipstick on a pig. They are painting walls with little prep, most walls wern't painted and it shows. The walls were dirty with lots of scuffs. The carpet is gross, the baseboards and corners are dirty, and in need of deep clean. Shower amenities are basic and they didn't even give us enough towels. The place was dirty with lots of damage. The water took ages to reach lukewarm in the shower and only came out with a garden-hose trickle. The carpet felt wet everywhere, like it had never really be cleaned. I got some additional towels and they just hung them on the outside of the door in a kroger bag instead of putting them in the room, never seen that before. My keycards got deactivated twice and I had to get the night deskperson to reactivate them. They never asked me for ID or proof I was even staying there. There was probably prostitution or drug dealing going on at this location. Lots of people outside of rooms late at night, moving between rooms, waiting in cars. A woman was tweaking in her car near my room. I didn't spend any time in the hotel besides sleeping during my trip, but if I was there with my partner or family I would have left and eaten the cost. Pros: The room smelled fine. The bed was comfortable and seemed clean. The door locked securely. The staff I interacted with were polite. Maybe I had too high expectations for a motel, but I certainly remember places like this, and Howard Johnsons being a little better...

This hotel is convenient for me when u am visiting family. It is close to shopping & affordable for me. It is clean & comfortable, but not renovated, which keeps the cost down for me. Staff is great! Breakfast not good. I have stayed many times & will continue when in the area.

They gave us the room key and we went to the room. This had a king bed and jacuzzi. Checking in was great, the female behind the counter was great. My friend and I were in town to go hunting the next morning very early. So we asked about breakfast sandwiches or coffee being made early so that we could get something. The female behind the counter answered everything and told use she would leave a note for the night guy. Well the night guy didn't make the coffee, or set out the sandwiches, or muffins. He stated he never got the message or note. It didn't start the day off on the right foot. Good thing the metro diner is right next to the motel, because we got breakfast sandwiches there, after eating dinner, to cover our butts. The room was a typical double bed room, it did it's job. Gave us a place to sleep until 3am.

Good thing the metro diner is right next to the motel, because we got breakfast sandwiches there, after eating dinner, to cover our butts. The room was a typical double bed room, it did it's job. I would never stay in this place ever again out of town for a funeral for a family with my young child and they were roaches literally everywhere in the sheets on the walls. The bathroom was disgusting. The walls were nearly falling apart. I truly hope they shut this place that

Also, the rooms are in slight need of repair. I have been in worse rooms, I expected a little better from HoJos. (I know this isn’t a real Howard Johnson but still). It is located in a great area, so much nearby.

Everything was great except that there were lots of bugs crawling around on the bathroom wall and also on the wall above the sink. I have no idea what kind they were.

Had to clean A/C filters. Carpets turned feet black. Sheets had permanent stains. Blankets stained and torn. Shower curtain rod broken. Had to ask every day for towels, even tho listed as 3 occupants, they weren't happy. Staff to think we were only allowed one breakfast per room not per person?

The parking lot had a huge broken section and we had to drive over it to get to and from our room. No breakfast available as advertised. Past stay was great and that is why we chose the location besides being close to everyone we came to see. Would love to travel again and stay with Howard Johnson.

The key was unable to unlock the room door. The hair dryer was broken. There was a plastic bag of stuff (looked like dirty socks) in the room. It was too dark and cold in the night for me to go to the office in another building to address the complaint.

I’m not sure why people give this any sort of stars. It was pretty worn out and did not feel super safe. That said the breakfast was non existent so add the cost of breakfast to your bill and stay somewhere else.

This hotel overall was pretty descent the room was clean and comfy, and it was convenient to all the restaurants. I will definitely stay in. Oh and before I for get the check in guy has awesome customer service. I will definitely stay here again.

We had met a couple staying underneath us for a couple days as well. I got a room because the AC was out in my apartment. I mentioned that to the rude staff and said I was excited for a cool room. The room I was given was over 90 degrees, smelled like smoke and stale air. The bed was like sleeping on a sheet laying over concrete. Hands down one of the worst hotel stays.

Stayed here for an inexpensive place while horseshowing. Room was very dated but clean. Pool wasn’t not open. Close to food and horse show grounds.

Dried white stains and holes on bedding. The room was humid so the bed was moist. Stains on the chair and couch. Very large red stain on floor. The tv was broken. It was utterly disgusting and was probably rented by the hour normally. The smell of marijuana was everywhere outside. We went to the front office and the guy there had holes in his shirt and was completely uninterested. I called Expedia to get a refund; no refund but was offered a new room. Gloria, one of the housekeepers was very kinda and This room was still extremely run down, but so much cleaner and better kept.

Now i was returning end of March 2020 and decided to give it a 2nd chance since the room seemed decent and the roof was done. I booke the room, this time we were in the main building. The stay started with our key not working so we had to go back to the front for a new one, no biggie. But when we walked in it smelled like weed and stale cigarettes. There was stains on the couch and floor. The bed was clean. The bathroom was awful. The ceiling was covered in mold and the wall was peeling and moldy. Room service cleaned after the first night and left us towels, one of which was wet and dirty that had black stuff on it. Sadly the first trip wasnt bad but the 2nd one will make me not return. Im not one to pick on hotels (and ive stayed in some pretty dirty places) but it only takes 1 bad stay to change your mind. I will not stay again... it needs some updating and thorough cleaning. I hope this helps.

Not much to like besides the location. It smelled funny and did not seem like a safe hotel. Also super loud and your can hear everyone around you.

The shower had mold and needs alot of repairs. We found 2 stickem toys on the ceiling above the bed. The couch in the room looks like a dog or cat tore the fabric of the arm. Will not stay at anotger Howard Johnson.

The room had chipped walls. The blow dryer sound like was a fire hazard waiting to happen.

The promotional information on the property did not match the actual place. The place was dirty and the facility showing extreme signs of aging. The only upside was that it was inexpensive. I stayed here alone and would never consider having my family stay. The place did not seem extremely safe.

The website said free breakfast. Check-in and come to find out that since March 2020, they have closed the lobby and stopped offering free breakfast due to local government Covid-19 regulations. My stay was April 2021. They had a whole year to update that information. They failed to do so. Under a dresser, I found a plastic hanger and a cigarillo wrapper from previous occupiers of my hotel room. There was also a long black hair on one of the bath towels I would've used to dry myself off with after a shower. Get what you pay for, I suppose.

Nice hotel for the price. I book our road crews and they have requested this hotel more than once. They tell me it is clean and the staff is great.

Management is unprofessional paid for the room for five days and just because I didn't stay in the room Management checked me out without my consent. And still charged my account by the way this place is a dump.

Staff was kind and professional and a huge help when I needed to add an extra night to my stay. The room was very nice; upgraded and comfortable. Area was convenient to the job site, shopping and dining. Would definitely stay here again!

It was inexpensive but it shows broken tiles in bathroom bee hive in rails on walkway ac air filters clogged with dust

Check in was at a window due to Covid, he sanitized his hands before he started with my check in. The room basic (king size bed, large screen TV, air conditioner, shower and a refrigerator) Just What I needed to get some sleep before I got back on the road the next morning.

The hot tub in the room was good. Just needs to be bigger.

Customer service was horrible and my room wasn't clean. The front desk called and woke me up at 7am to ask if i wanted service only to turn around and not even clean my room. I only had two dirty wash cloths and no towels or toilet tissue. Will never go again or recommend this place to anyone
